We have multiple needs on this team and the Offensive and Defensive lines need to be addressed more than Cb. We need to get the best Linemen on the market.
Agreed, CB is as much a need on this team as the Dline I think. Imagine, how much better Rhodes can be with two solid CBs. That being said, I don't care where we spend our money, as long as the money is spent plugging holes.
Exactly... Or they will complain that J.Miller never turns his head around or that Barrett gets burned on almost every play or that Poteat is 5 years past his prime or that D.Coleman is a 4th CB playing the role of a "#2" Yes I know we need help on the O-Line to go along with Mangold and Ferguson, yes I know we need help on the D-Line... But Roberston may have to due for now because a V.Wilfork type DT is the hardest spot to fill. We can sign an O-Lineman in FA and even draft one in the 2nd and 3rd rounds... But while we are at it, why not go after a Proven superstar in A.Samuels to pair up with Rhodes and Revis in the secondary? Why not... We all know Mangini loves him and A.Samuel had nothing but GOOD WORDS to say about Mangini when Mangini became the coach of the Jets. Everyone complains how we always go after the Scrubs from NE like Cassell or Chatman... Well guess what? We have a chance to take a GREAT player from NE... ANd better yet... Get in the head of BB, I would love it.
I really think that Gholston is going to fall and we will not take him. He is certainly the favorite here, but he did not impress in his bowl game, nor in Senior week and now there are steroid rumours. Throw in the fact he would be changing positions in the NFL if he was a Jet and it all adds up to a lot of risk for a high draft pick. I think he will go late first as he has been projected all along.
No sweetie, you took it a step further and were polishing McNeil's knob.. "Have you evulated how much better our OL would have been if McNeil was ours instead of Brick?" Chumpius to the Corinthians, 2008
I do but I guess you do not or you did not understand what meant about JV just like our friend from across the pond. If you did not like that McNeil was chosen over Brick go get another towel to wipe away your tears in your disappointment of that fact
I know our O-Line needs alot of work... 3 positions out of 5 if you ask me... But lets not forget, that T.Jones still ran for over 1,000 yards with a first year starting QB. Kellen will be so much better next year, its not even funny... If we get A.Samuel... We will have one of the best secondarys in Football, with Samuels, Rhodes and Revis...and if we draft Gholston we will have a pretty good front 7 with D.Harris running the show. Lets not forget Vilma... He may come back next year more motivated and hungry than ever.
Yes and your boasting that McNeil is a better player is readily apparent, as is your lack of FB Knowlighe
It is kinda hard for someone to impress at senior week when you are not even there. Gholston is a junior and did not participate in senior week. We might not take him but he will be a top 15 pick, he just has to much natural talent not to be. As for the topic of this thread, it is never a bad thing to add better talent, something this team is sorely lacking, that is a huge need. We have a ton of cap room and can address multiple positions. Signing a Samuel does not mean we cant address the other positions. Damned if you do, damned if you dont with Jets fans.
Your champanese just isn't as strong as some of us who can understand him. Granted, I have to bang my head on my desk and give myself a concussion before I can attempt to understand him, but it works. You should try it sometime
Haven?t we already established that everything we discuss on this board is basically conjecture and opinion! You try to come off as father wisdom and sound like The Jets Nazi!
Meanwhile , back on topic. I would love to have Samuel , but not at any cost , not even with the cap space we have. Samuel would have seen how much Clements got last year and would probably command alot more. Yes we do need another dominant CB , but I would like to first address the front 7 and maybe then look at what we have.
Our pass defense ranked 9th in the entire NFL last year w/absolutely no pass rush. Based on that alone, it is my opinion that the amount of money that it will cost to sign Asante Samuel to a long term contract will be a mistake. If we can get a more reasonable pass rush along w/a possible draft pick and/or 2nd tier free agent in the secondary, I think then the pass D will rank better than 9th in 2008. It appears that you are in favor of it, I am not. For God's sake, we cant stop the run! If we had a better run defense & our O-line was in better shape, then maybe I would be more in favor of A. Samuel.
