I can't belive a plane flew over the Jets practice facitlity with a "Fire Idzik" banner, this is the biggest public uproar from the fan base I have ever seen
Send a message to your customers that this type of failure will not be tolerated and everyone involved will pay the price and the owner will pick up the tab to replace them to fix it.
I can't believe that video was so badly made that they thought they could convince people that Rex was pointing at a plane.
It's easy to see how, through an abstractionist viewpoint, one may misinterpret the filmmakers intention(s). Rex is clearly pointing to his own failure...not ours.
I think both guys stay on thru 2015. Anything else would be seen as Woody caving in to public pressure. Now if Idzik fucks up the next draft, then I don't think it would leave Woody much of a choice on if the beaver stays or goes. This is the first time I've ever seen a full blown Fan Revolt. Strange days indeed.
The point of it is to calm down the fan base and to stop the planes and billboards and all the Idzik hate.I think its stupid to do it mid season but I don't care anymore
If that's the case it's only till the end of the season, after the trading deadline's passed so really he can't do anything of consequence. God I still don't know why he's in the organization. It wouldn't shock me if this was floated as 'motivational' at least with the option to actually do it if (when?) the Jets put up another stinker against the Steelers. I mean ESPN is the Jets' house network so someone clearly funnelled a message to Kay.
If he's going to do it at the end of the season then what's the difference anyway? If anything it'll score Woody points with the fans. Does Woody really want another two months of negative press, billboards and watching the team have go through the motions performances?
Woody can't appear to give in to the fans on this. To do so would only enforce the perception that Woody is more concerned with image than anything else. This has to appear as though Woody makes the decision to fire or not after many many hours of thought and done only for the good of the franchise. The one thing Woody and the Jets Franchise is woefully short on right now is a positive image. Perception in the largest media market on earth is crucial to the over success or failure. What is the perception of the Jet Brand today? Caving in would be applauded first, then ripped as a weakness and Woody shown to be yet another blundering owner.
Rex should be gone Monday, that's a no-brainer. As underwhelming as Idzik has been and as unimpressed as we all are with his moves so far I disagree with moving on from a GM so quickly. These guys needs years to implement what they're doing and you can't even realistically fully evaluate a single draft class of his yet. Sometimes you have to take a step backwards before you take two steps forward.
let's hope it is like anything Kay says on football- wrong. it would make absolutely no sense to fire either one on Monday. I don't think Woody is that stupid.
I understand your point, but what it leaves out is that in fact Woody IS more concerned with his image than anything else. It really is the only reason for him to still own the team. The fact is that Ryan and Idzik have undercut his image even more than before by producing this 1-8 travesty. The revolting fans are not wrong in making that assessment, and in voicing their pov. Arguably it would be not holding Ryan and Idzik responsible that would serve to undermine Woody's image even more so. Having said that, I do not feel confident making a prediction either way as to what Woody will do. Except that it usually is the wrong thing.
