i guess dunn hit that pretty well. typical dunn, he only gets 1 RBI out of that, i mean it was totally his fault that there wasn't anyone on base there.
one more thing to love about castro, the imperial march is the music that plays when he comes up to bat
I need to apologize to Jeff Brantley, all the stupidity I've been attributing to him has actually been some dude named Chris Welsh. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chris_Welsh Nice moustache, asshole. (Brantley's still dumb too.)
Funny, you poke fun at the announcers for not knowing their baseball, yet you don't know Chris Welsh. Where to start, where to start....:breakdance:
but it is his fault when guys ARE on base and all he does is K. or in the 9th inning against a K pitcher, he has no chance.. would never want him anywhere near the mets
Yeah, Dunn's avg with RISP is .213, his avg with RISP and 2 outs? .189. Granted that is better than some players on the Mets avg with RISP, I still wouldn't want him on the Mets.
Wait a minute, Dunn doesn't hit for a high average with RISP? This doesn't make sense to me, oh wait, yes it does. He's .246/.378/.515 overall for his career and .218/.412/.470 with RISP for his career. So let's not make like this is some shocking news, it's the player he is.
But then why would you want someone like this on the Mets when hitting with RISP has been the problem with this team all year?
I checked out some of the top HR hitters to see if Dunn actually hit a significant amount of more solo HRs these are the percentage of solo HRs the guy hit. Sosa 54% Bonds 60% Griffey 55% McGwire 53% Dunn 56% The reason Dunn doesn't get all that many RBI are twofold. One as we discussed was that he hits for a low average. Less hits = less RBI, not complicated. The other is that he walks so much, and doesn't appear eager to expand the strike zone with men on base. Unless the bases are loaded you're not going to drive in a run with a walk. We saw the same type of thing with Bonds(although much more extreme, and only due to the number of walks he got). Bonds hit 45 HRs, slugged .812 with a .609 OBP. But he "only" had 101 RBI. In conclusion, RBI is a stupid stat, and a guy that slugs and gets on base as much as Dunn is a very valuable part of any lineup.
Scoring runs has been the problem. Usually(always?) the problem when you're not scoring runs is that you're not getting enough people on base.
