another solid win and Santana continues to impress so much more that I or probably anyone expected.

This team is a pleasant surprise so far

26 straight scoreless innings against the sad Padres. 5 out of 7 against the Pirates and Padres is great, but now comes the hard part - 25 games against teams with a combined .560 winning percentage. If the Mets are at least 7 games over .500 on June 24 they are probably actual contenders.

This reminds me of the 2005 season, in 2005 we were in the wildcard race most of the year. We usually were about 5 games out or so, in the end we didnt make the playoffs but DEFINATELY had something to build in. Of course then 2006 came and we were simply the best team.

What im saying is, im not sure whats going to happen this year. We could make the playoffs but chances are we dont, but im definately confident about this team heading into the future.

There are 5 playoff spots to be had in the National League this year. As long as the Mets stay above .500, they should stay in the playoff hunt. At this time I would have to say they have a legit shot at the playoffs.

Turner hurt on a run-down (knee/ankle/leg). Niese has little-to-no control today. Not looking good.

What a disaster - terrible baserunning cost the Mets the run there and directly led to Turner getting hurt also. Wright is playing SS for the second time in his major league career.

Nice home run!! I don't know where this Rottino guy came from, but he's starting to impress.

Collins really is an idiot sometimes. Niese obviously is struggling, and then he lets him bat and pitch the 6th. Two batters later it's 4-2 Phils.

Hamels once again gives up a 2-run jack and the game is tied.

Murphy and Wright again let the Mets down - it's remarkable how well the Mets have done in the past few games given how poorly those two have been going.

You have got to be kidding - Wigginton hits a 3 run HR for a total of 6 RBI (single, double, HR, 2 walks), pretty much ending it.

Acosta has got to go - ERA of 11.86 and climbing.

As soon as I saw Acosta I knew the Phillies would break the game wide open.

Why is Acosta still on this team? He's had like one good week.

Interesting how it seems to take a monumentally awful performance to get the Mets to finally get rid of these losers. You would think that with so much good happening for the team so far this year they would embrace the fact that keeping horrible players does no one any good - all it does is send a message to the players that they're no better than clowns like Acosta.
