That'll be tough to do! Mets are playing at a .580 clip over the last 50 games. Who knows if it will continue, but at least it's nice to see.
So who is the bigger waste of money, Rodriguez or Bay? Bay certainly sucks more but the Mets finally seem to be getting the message they don't have to run that bum out there every day.
A fucking horribly stupid play by Duda to prolong the inning and then a fucking balk... Two straight weeks the Mets blow what would have been huge wins. I'll take the 6-4 road trip, but what a ridiculous loss. Only the Mets lose this way, seriously.
Who gives a fuck about saves? The guy has been allowing an obscene number of base runners. He has to come in every few days and get 3 outs with a lead and he's getting 12 million. Isringhausen is being paid peanuts and has been better. The balk is also the stupidest rule in all of sports, can someone explain why this exists when its not in the context of trying to fool a runner in a pickoff attempt?
Rodriguez can blow one every now and then. There never is a good time to blow one, especially against Atlanta. SNY put the jinx on him when they said they hadn't swept Atlanta in Atlanta since '07. Blame Duda, that was a horrible play. Absolutely horrible. That was a routine grounder to Tejada.
Duda sucks and he's playing out of position. Carrasco also sucks. Rodriguez is supposed to be an "elite" closer and is also a piece of shit as a human being so fuck him.
Did you expect anything different out of K-Rod? He did the same shit with the Angels, at least he's doing the same thing he's always been doing unlike Bay.
Duda's a first baseman/OF, so he's playing in a position he should be familiar enough to know not to get in the way. I don't think Carrasco sucks. He's an average pitcher, nothing more, nothing less. What do you expect when the Mets nickle and dime their way through the offseason to fill their bullpen? IMO, there are no elite closers, even the guy in the Bronx blows them; guys are gonna blow saves. It's a fact. K-Rod has had a pretty decent year so far. As far as the human being factor, yeah, last year kinda disgusted me. It's s shitty loss, what can you say?
Duda hasn't played a significant amount of time at 1B since 2 years ago in AA. I agree with you about the closer situation which is why I think its ridiculous that the Mets have so much money invested in Rodriguez and it's going to be even more infuriating next year when they're paying this clown 18M and Reyes is playing for another team. I don't agree with the statement that he's been decent this year, he's been extremely lucky with the amount of baserunners he's allowed that he hasn't given up more runs and blown more games but you're going to see that even out if he keeps pitching the way he has been.
Why will the Mets have to pay F-Rod next year? Either trade him or get some turd to knock him out for the year with a hammer to the kneecap or something. Make Bay do it. Then that stupid option won't kick in.
3 and 15. I didn't expect anything from Rodriguez this year, so yeah, I think he's been decent. You call him lucky, but the same guy that put guys on base is the same one who gets out of the inning. He's only blown 2 all year, so, so far I'll give him a pass. They went 6-4 on a tough road trip. Even Pittsburgh is decent this year. I'm over tonight, I'll take a winning road trip. Problem is, they have to start winning at home now.
Typical Mets...my recording finished at 1 out in 9th....thought we won....oh well! K Rod has been good this year but serves up too many big shots. Bigger worry is Dickey...guy looks distinctly average this year.
Not sure who to believe here. I would really like Reyes to stay. http://sports.espn.go.com/new-york/mlb/news/story?id=6688767 Jose Reyes: No talk until season overEmail Print Comments40 By Adam Rubin ESPNNewYork.com Archive NEW YORK -- New York Mets shortstop Jose Reyes, who is due to be a free agent at the end of the season, has informed the organization he does not intend to negotiate during the regular season. "Right now I don't want any distractions," Reyes said. "I just want to continue to play. We're going to have plenty of time in the offseason to make this happen." General manager Sandy Alderson, trying to gauge Reyes' financial demands to make a more informed trading-deadline decision, called agent Peter Greenberg last week to initiate discussions. Greenberg was in Japan at the time, and met with Reyes on Monday for two hours at the shortstop's Long Island home after returning to the United States. Reyes told his agent he did not want the distraction of speaking about a contract in-season, and that sentiment was relayed to the Mets. Alderson said he made the contact public to prevent continued chatter about the topic. The GM expected the announcement would trigger increased inquiries for Reyes by other clubs before the July 31 trade deadline. Still, Alderson said, Reyes is in a different category from other players and suggested that the team's record at the end of next month would not be the determinative factor in whether Reyes is traded, as it would be with other players, presumably such as Carlos Beltran and Francisco Rodriguez. Alderson said that should not suggest a degree of confidence in the Mets' ability to re-sign Reyes, though. "All I wanted to suggest was if we're playing lousy, it doesn't mean Jose is gone," Alderson said. "That's basically the point I'm trying to make. If we are playing lousy, are we a seller? Generally speaking -- maybe, probably." Reyes insisted his preference is to remain a Met, and this is solely designed to maximize his concentration on the field. "Nothing changed," Reyes said. "I want to stay here. Like I've always said, I want to be a New York Met all my career." Adam Rubin covers the Mets for ESPNNewYork.com. Follow Adam Rubin on Twitter: @AdamRubinESPN
