Ike back in a boot for "three more weeks." Why do I get the feeling that he'll actually be back some time in August?

God help anyone who gave up on this game. What a wild one.

 

Wow. What a win today! Pelf seriously needs to go though. It's time Collins pulls the trigger.

 

I would be upset if they traded Wright but this team is in such disaray that can anything be out of the question? I just wish the Wilpon's would do baseball a favor and sell the team. I saw they were gonna lose 70 million this year.

With no farm system and the owners losing that much money I'd have to think the thoughts of attempting to sign somebody like Fielder or Pujols would be slim to none. Even with all that money coming off the books next season the prospects of them improving just don't seem that great.

 

I'd hope somebody like Anaheim or Texas would come along and be willing to take him for some prospects. My guess is Carlos would like going back to Texas so could he avoid paying state tax. His no trade clause could be a real killer as well as finding somebody willing to take his salary. The Angels always have a loaded farm system. The Rangers have developed a lot of homegrown talent over the last decade so you know they have a good system in place.

Are there really that many options for him? Would the Red Sox or Yankees take him? My guess is there isn't anybody in the NL for him to go to except maybe St Louis or Colorado. I don't even know if those would be options. Maybe we have 3 or 4 teams we could trade him to tops. Honestly as much as it kills me to say I'd be on the phone with the Yankees. They have a loaded farm system and adding another bat to that lineup like Beltran's would make them the favorites IMO. Of course they may not want him.

All I know is it's going to be interesting heading into the trade deadline.

 

My little ode to Jason Bay ala Do the Right Thing:

K-rod blows the game and will probably get a game finished from it.

 

Well, those last two innings were a wonderful microcosm of this season - Little League-level defense in one inning, pathetic bullpen in the other, and batters that look like they don't belong in the major leagues.

 

They are painful to watch as they keep teasing us with games they can and should win. Neise pitched a great game by the way...

 

Wright out for at least another month (I doubt he'll be back before the All-Star break).

Only our beloved Mets can go from a great, uplifting win to an inexcusable loss versus a divisional rival in a little more than 24 hours. Ya Gotta Believe!

 

Just saw that Bill Hall was released by the Astros....he plays 2nd and 3rd. I know, I know (before someone destroys me for suggesting it)...he has sucked this year, but he had a decent year in Boston last year, and let's face it, the Mets need depth at both positions. Especially if Wright is out another month.

Love all this "let's trade Pelfrey" stuff flying around. He's worth dick right now. Why would you trade a guy who's value in rock bottom right now?

 

Bill Hall would fit right in on this team, he's about as inconsistent as they come. he had one amazing year in Milwaukee when he hit lke 35 HR's and has never even come close to that since.

 

Gee pitched well again and Jose continues to hit. The team still seems to have some fire in its belly in spite of the recent losses. Always nice to give it to Atlanta!
