I knew the Mets would only score 1 run in this inning.

that would've been awesome if the mets had 4 hbp in 1 inning

I understand your point, Keith, but I'm not sure you want to invoke Castillo as a model for how Reyes should hit.

On 5-1-74, Dock Ellis hit the first three Reds batters. Then he walked Tony Perez. Then he threw two pitches at Johnny Bench's head. Ellis was then removed from the game. All the plunking was done on purpose because Ellis was a bit of a wacko.

I just got home a half hour ago, so I'm wondering what the story is with Church. According to Newsday today, he was pissed that he didn't play on Friday, and yet now he's not playing again. Have they said anything about that?

Edit: well, Gary just explained it. That really sucks.

Just that he won't play tomorrow either. I have no idea what's going on with him. He probably should've just been DL'd after the concussion. I've seen several articles saying that Church was mad about not playing, but then said he told Willie he was unavailable to pinch hit in the same game.

The Mets official line seems to be that this is totally unrelated to the concussion and it's a conditioning issue, which seems like a lie.

According to what Gary just said, they're now saying that it is definitely a concussion issue, so they seem to have completely backed off the argument that it wasn't.

Doesn't hurt when he's pitching to the part of the order sporting an OBP lower then his weight.
