Here's what I think/hope C: Loduca 1B: Delgado 2B: Gotay SS: Yup 3B: Yup OF: Alou, Beltran, Gomez SP: Santana, Pedro, Maine, Perez, Pelfrey/Humber bullpen: Sanchez, Duque, Wagner, Felicano, Smith This is the big 18
that's a horrible lineup. sorry, santana doesn't make the mets a better team if that's what the rest of it looks like.
If they went after Dunn I would assume that pee hands would not be back. The money saved there would defray alot of the cost.
I agree with 3rd, Dunn >> pee hands and to get Santana I'd be surprised if at least Humber or Pelfrey is a part of the deal if not both
last time I checked, Jim Duquette is the GM of the Orioles -- not the swiftest GM in the league. it's not hard too sucker him in a deal.
Check again, he resigned today. http://mlb.mlb.com/news/article.jsp?ymd=20071005&content_id=2251770&vkey=news_mlb&fext=.jsp&c_id=mlb
Does anyone actually think that anyone wants Pelfrey or Humber at this point? I don't even consider them prospects at this point. When was the last time the mets developed a starting pitcher?
I dont know if its been stated already but on the YES bottomline it said the AP reports that Glavine declined his 13 mil option
They didn't draft them. They traded for both of them and developed/fixed them . I'm talking about drafting college high school pitchers, signing international pitchers, developing them your system and having cheap young hard throwers.
Perez was initially singed by the Padres and Maine was drafted by the Orioles. FWIW, Pelfrey, Heilman, Humbler, and Smith are all 'home grown'
In a market where Carlos Lee gets $100 million for 6 years, the Reds would be insane to turn down that option. I know they are a small market team, but there should be enough of a trade market for him at that price.
Delgado needs to be gone this offseason. He's fat, old and slow and can't hit. Not to mention he swings at everything in the dirt. If Humber/Pelfrey are even in Met uniforms next year, you might as well just give the other team a tee to hit off of. If Omar doesn't get rid of at least these 3 idiots, he should be fired on the spot.
Yeah the home grown pitching talent doesn't exist. Pelfrey sucks, I'm sorry he has one good pitch which he still can't control. Humber is still an unknown but I didn't see anything from him that said he has top of the rotation potential. Joe Smith is nice, they need more guys like that. The mets can't continue to rely on these old farts anymore. El duque can't be counted on to be in the rotation, he has to be the 6th or 7th starter. Delgado isn't going anywhere with his contract, I doubt they could trade him and eat the contract. He was really average this year at the plate and he couldn't even lean over for ground balls.
Razor Shines was fired as the White Sox 3rd base coach. The Mets should sign him. At least have some interesting names if you're gonna suck, which the Mets will undoubtedly do in 2008.
What's the matter? Lost faith in your team?   Told you this was gonna happen 2 weeks before the season was over.
