Lots of bad defense by the Marlins in this inning gives the Mets the go-ahead run.

Some bad defense by Tatis on that one, both in taking a bad angle and double-clutching the throw.

Smith going after Sanchez' mark of consecutive batters to reach base in consecutive games.

He may be bad, but Uggla is also good. 3-3.

Big F for the Mets bullpen, and this game will probably be over soon.

another classic example of misuse here, using feliciano as the LOOGY so now you're backed into a position where show is going to face several RHB. cody ross 3 run hr coming.

Is it really Wright's fault because another player can't field his position? That's like blaming Beltran for the leadoff double because he wasn't playing in the LF gap since Tatis can't cover much ground.

Another horrible defensive play for the Mets. Neither team deserves to win this game.

I completely disagree. Wright started heading back to the base far too early on that play. I think there are very few pitchers who could have made that play.

    Well, this game is over.

hard pressed to remember the last time a manager has been as offensively horrible as Manuel was tonight. probably Willie back when I had the counter going as to how many games he cost the Mets.

Mets bullpen showing some similar signs of last season's meltdown

The Mets pen is a huge problem and I don't know Omar would expect that to change. The entire pen is full of specialists. Wagner is the only guy that can reliably get both righties and lefties out. I guess you can throw Sanchez in there too when he's not giving up 6 straight hits. The formerly pretty reliable Heilman and Feliciano have been death against their opposite batters this year combined with Smith and Show. So basically the choice late in games is use 3 pitchers to get through an inning or have a guy in there who's letting that type of batter OPS 900+ off him.

The other thing they're missing is a good long man in the pen. People forget how great Darren Oliver was for the Mets in 06. A starter would get blown up early and he would come in and hold down the fort and give the Mets a chance to come back. Now when that happens the Mets just have to stretch out bad pitchers and put them into multiple unfavorable matchups. Figueroa seems like the logical choice to me, when he was starting he was dominant the first time through the lineup.

agreed, you know whern Heilmann is developing into the most consistent guy out of the pen, things are not looking good

You are right on both accounts, Muniz has been horrid and the specialist brigade has lead to too many blowups this year, add in the fact that we still need a starting OF. Minaya has got some work to do.

Reyes with the baserunning blunder is thrown out at 3rd to lead off the game.

Leading off the inning go for it? What nonsense. He had the play right in front of him, and you don't make the first out at third base. There is aggressive, and there is stupid.

And now Evans doubles, but drives in no one.
