He's averaging 7.6 Ks per 9 IP for his career, so I'm not sure that that is the problem. His K/BB ratio is 2:1, so that's not so bad either. He usually cruises for 4 innings, but he has trouble putting people away from the 5th inning on. It seems to be a stamina problem more than anything else.
Maybe I mean an improvement to his strikeout pitch, while he does strikeout a good number of hitters, he like you said has times where he struggles to finish off batters, and the consistant fouling off of pitches has increased the number of pitches per start.
really not sure why Robinson Cancel is up here instead of someone who can field the ball in the late innings in the OF. anyway, come on wags
