stokes really got the santana treatment that inning. he stikes hudson out on the previous pitch and then one of the 2 OF'ers playing the infield for the mets throws the game away. fix the fucking team omar. one injury to an old player that has been battling injuries the past couple years and we have jeremy fucking reed playing first base. what the fuck
Everybody is hurt. Reyes is on day five of his one day injury. Delgado out till who knows when, Cora injures his thumb sliding head on like an asshole into 2nd when feet first would of worked just fine... Or system is devoid of any talent to bring in to fill the gaps in the infield for any length of time. We need to trade for an everyday 1st baseman. I don't really care who. Somebody who isn't over 32, and doesn'tt have a long term contract.
Everybody is hurt? The Mets have one significant injury. What's the explanation for the fucking Chinese fire drill in the outfield? Or having one guy capable of playing first base on the roster?
The manager is an idiot. Murphy should be at 1st. Sheff in left and Church/Tatis in right. Reed comming in late for defense of Sheff. There is no reason for Murphy not to be starting.
Murphy should be starting, in AAA until they find a position that he can play without embarassing himself. Church should also be benched for the foreseeable future after the stunts he pulled tonight.
I agree with 3rd, having infielders playing as outfielders and scrubs playing as 1st basemen has cost this team all season, where the fuck is Omar in this situation? Because our roster is broke right now, and the injuries is a bullshit excuse for this atrocity
Okay, except that the replay clearly showed that Pagan called for the ball 5 or 6 times. Maybe they didn't hear each other, and maybe Pagan should be looking at Beltran first and then backing off, and maybe it's Pagan's fault for not listening for Beltran, but the statement "If Pagan would have called for that ball, my job is to get out of the way" is not consistent with what happened. Poor Stokes - he pitched great, and was screwed over about 5 different ways.
that's par for the course with the pitchers on this team. New York Mets, where you'll pitch great only to lose.
I was at the game last night. In both Pagan and Beltran's defense, I specifically heard someone yell "Noonan!"
Keep in mind who's been in LF the rest of the season for the Mets, none of them would've even been in the frame on that ball. Any way you look at it it was the CF's ball and Pagan should've been the one to back off, not keep calling for it then throw himself at Beltran's legs at the last moment.
Also, from Minaya's latest bumbling conference call it sounds like the Mets won't be looking to trade for a 1b. I'd really like someone to explain the Sheffield phenomenon to me. This guy was barely in the Mets plans at the begining of the year, yet because of an injury to a good hitter at a completely different position, this guy, who isn't a good hitter must now play every day, and bat cleanup. I hear this crap from Omar and Manuel and the talking heads daily but I've never heard anyone question how this makes any kind of sense.
A rare normal like lineup, we have garbage on the bottom half but hey it is better than what it was lately Reyes, ss Murphy, lf Beltran, cf Wright, 3b Church, rf Martinez, 2b Reed, 1b Santos, c Maine, rhp
From my thinking it is because we have very little power from our lineup (other than Wright or Beltran, Sheff probably has the most power in the lineup) where as mediocre as he has been he will especially with Delgado hurt will be in the heart of the order, now as to why he is batting 4th, I think that since Wright got in a bit of a groove batting 5th they didn't want to move him.
Jerry is obviously going with the hot hands. At least he got Church, Reed and Martinez all in the lineup after their stellar play.
at what point does the manager start taking some heat for the consistent idiocy displayed by nearly the entire roster
