that was actually a pretty bad play by milledge. if soriano doesn't come up lame there he has no shot at throwing him out and theriot would've taken 2nd.
Off topic, but I find it hysterically funny that Bonds apologists are crowing about how when he hit his 755th HR "there were more cheers than boos from the fans." The fact that this is something that even gets mentioned shows how ridiculous the entire situation is.
anyone know what the hell joe morgan is talking about? saying that 500 hrs is harder then 300 wins is stupid enough by itself, but saying you can't get 500 hrs by playing alot of years? eddie murray anyone?
hahah has Jon Miller said anything right yet? He first messed up calling derrick lee carlos lee, he then corrected himself and said carlos lee is on the brewers where he signed in the offseason. I hate ESPN telecasts, its like watching senial old men talk about baseball.
I guess he's saying that a hitter of any type can get to 3000 hits if he plays long enough, but no matter how long he plays, Ichiro is never going to hit 500 HRs. I would have to agree with him that the 3000 hit club includes more people who were never (or at least rarely) the best hitters in their league (Paul Molitor, Eddie Murray, Cal Ripken Jr, Robin Yount, Dave Winfield, Lou Brock, Craig Biggio, Rafael Palmeiro) than the 500 HR club includes people who were never among the best power hitters in their league (Eddie Murray, Rafael Palmeiro). To me it's very obvious, however, that getting 300 wins is much harder than either, and the fact that only 9 people have done it since 1925 (hopefully 10 after tonight) shows that, I think.
morgan drops such ridiculous bombs i don't even notice when miller screws something up. luis castillo, the career american leaguer...yeah.
the implication that milledge is the 8th best hitter in the mets lineup because he's batting 8th is cute, but unfortunately not true joe.
if wright hits a ground ball the inning is over. so what happens now if delgado hits a ground ball? you can't make this stuff up.
