I second that sentiment having gone to school in chicago the past 4 years there is nothing I enjoy more than watching the Cubs blow a game. I was at Shea for the May 17th Dempster collapse. Nothing would make me happier than a sweep with Glavine's 300th on Sunday night...I PRAY that we get the Cubs in the playoffs
Fortunately for the Mets / unfortunately for my fantasy team and the Braves, Renteria is on the 15-day DL with that ankle sprain.
Good day for the Mets, as the Rockies beat the Braves 9-2 and the Brewers beat the Phils 2-1. Mets now up 5 on Philly and 5.5 on Atlanta.
^ A little slow on the breaking news! Mets get the opportunity to get back up to 16 games over .500 tomorrow for the first time since June 2, which is the best they've been all year. They're 13-7 over their last 20.
Ugh, that sucked. Woody's back! Watch for his arm actually detaching itself from his body if he pitches!
This still feels more like a low-90s win team than a high-90s win team, but this is the first time in a while that the lead is up to 5 games, so the dog days have started off well.
If major league baseball polled its players for "softest" player in the majors, would Carlos Beltran win hands down?
That's true, but last year all season they looked like a team that would win over 100 with their eyes closed, then they hit a bad patch towards the end of the year and finished with 97.The season is so long and the cream rises to the top. Who knows, they could stay hot and finish with the same total as last year. The team is playing with a lot of heart right now. Look at the L.A. game, the Houston game, yesterday afternoons game. Very exciting times right now.
Yeah, the team's winning right now despite Willie's best efforts not to do so and Beltran being out (I put Castro on the same level as, if not better than, Lo Duca). Our lineup and bullpen is not as good as they were last year, that much is pretty clear. However, I actually hope that the Braves and Phils keep us on our toes til the end because hopefully we'll be able to strart the playoffs on a roll. We stumbled a bit at the end last season, and although we swept the Dodgers, we didn't seem quite as prepared for the Cards. I'm gonna stop now because I'm talking about shit that's potentially 2 months away. Let's just do this a game at a time.
The way Beltran was hitting his loss in the lineup is really only in perception(except on days when Willie decides to bat Marlon Anderson 5th). As far as Castro/LoDuca go obviously this year it isn't even close. Now, I don't think Castro is going to slug .575 over the course of an entire season but I don't see how he doesn't get a lionshare of the playing time until/if he starts to suck. On another note, how awful are 4pm est saturday games? Fox is evil.
