Obviously he failed, but I can't really be that upset - the pitch Braun doubled on is exactly the kind of pitch Smith would have thrown anyway.

We already know that it's a coin flip as to whether the bullpen can hold any lead anyway.

 

At this point I don't think you can complain about a bullpen move unless Manuel lets someone pitch to their opposite hand in a big spot. Everyone stinks.
