Exactly as others said, Zito is going to be overpaid that is guaranteed, but he is a helluva lot better then the alternatives that is staring us in the face right now
Really. After all of that huffing and puffing, the final conclusion was that Zito is worth $15M a year in this market, but his dishonest agent is going to try to get him $17M instead? Wow, what a terrible chore to have to listen to that unreasonable request. In point of fact, the ridiculous market for pitchers has made it easier for the Mets to get this done, since they'll be overpaying a lot less than they would have had to (relative to everyone else). I expect that it will be 6 years in the $90-100M range, and the Mets should just offer it and be done with it. If Zito prefers to take $10-$15M more to be in Texas, that's the way it goes, but I'd be surprised if that happened.
my wishlist rotation 1.Barry Zito LHP 2.Tom Glavine LHP 3.John Maine 4.Mark Mulder 5.El Duque if anyone goes down we have Oliver Perez,Mike Pelfrey&Justin Humber
no way! I wat nothing to do with a guy who's career record is 106-101 with a 4.60 ERA in 12 seasons. And my personal rule is I never want someone who does good against my team on any of my teams.it never works out.
Mulder has way too many injury concerns. We have our coming back from surgery pitcher. Pedro. Over the last 3 seasons Suppans and Zito's ERA+ are almost identical. 112 to 109. IIRC
if we didn't play Suppan in the Playoffs I would feel differently.but that is just one of my rules as a fan.sorry don't care about the #'s really.I should have not even used them.
so gary carter, keith hernandez, mike piazza, al leiter, tom glavine, to name a few, never worked out? I would take suppan in a heart beat, and if we had him last year we are champs.
its a superstition.when carter and hernandez came I was 8 years old.I didn't have this superstition yet.I did have others at that age but not this. piazza & leiter was not a rival and/or kill us. glavine always beat us.and was on our rival. if burrell who always kils us was to be traded here,he would blow worse than he does know. how did vince coleman work?bobby bonilla?juan samual?
Chris Woodward signed a one year $850,000 deal with Atlanta. Hopefully this doesn't shift the balance of power in the NL East back down south ....
