So this thread hardly gets posted in, but I bump an ancient dead thread and suddenly everyone has something to offer.
I picked this up yesterday. Not saying I was expecting Altars of Madness vol II but I'm pretty sure I wasn't expecting David Vincent to have brought the Genitortures with him.
The techno stuff on the album they will one day look back on with shame. It's that silly and bad. As for the 4 or 5 death tracks...they've grown on me alittle bit. Blaze for Baal,Nevermore and Extremo vulgar are all hard hitting evil sounding stuff. The real dissapointment for me was that we waited 8 years for new material, kept being led on w/ hype of a groundbreaking release, only to get some comically bad techno material and 4 or 5 Pedestrian death metal tracks.
Here's my breakdown: "Omni Potens" – 2:28 - Throwaway track "Too Extreme!" – 6:13 - Meh "Existo Vulgoré" – 3:59 - Good "Blades for Baal" – 4:52 - Great "I Am Morbid" – 5:16 - Good music, terrible lyrics "10 More Dead" – 4:51 - Good "Destructos vs. the Earth / Attack" – 7:15 - What the fuck? Worst track. "Nevermore" – 5:07 - Good "Beauty Meets Beast" – 4:56 - Good "Radikult" – 7:37 - Just bad "Profundis - Mea Culpa" – 4:05 - Good I like it more than Heretic, because at the very least you can't call it a boring album. I think anyone who calls this "the St. Anger of death metal" is being a whiny cunt.
I can agree with this. Radikult is just pathetic. I still think the best track is Nevermore which sounds like something straight off "Blessed". Unfortunately this song has been in circulation as a live track and the lone promo single for this release for about 3 years now. You'd like to think they'll save the real killer stuff for the official release and that the promo track is one of the "next best"
2 oldie Long Island bands I was a big fan of. Completely different sound, both bring me back to being 18 or 19. Good times.
I saw Neglect a bunch of times back in the day. Still have the demos and a cd. Always liked LSS and Good for nothing the best
A friend had alerted me and it's confirmed, the guy from Long Beach (Danny Bobis) who got lost in the surf in Indonesia (it's been in the papers here in NY) is the drummer from one of my favorite Long Island hardcore bands, Cipher. They still haven't found him so hopefully there's a happy ending to this story. It's looking doubtful, but hopefully this is one of those rare stories where he has somehow survived. One of my favorites of theirs. A little sloppy, but still gets its point across.
New Wolves in the Throne Room September 13th. Oh fuck yes. Also, has anyone picked up the new Decapitated? Was wondering if it's worth it. EDIT: Holy shit while dicking around on Metal-Archives I just noticed that Insomnium has a new album coming out next month too. Sweet.
check out my once mighty guitar collection, i used to have 68 of them until i split with the ex, had to watch alot of them go, it was quite painful- should be about 5 pages of pics to look at. http://www.collectguitars.com/thumbnails.php?album=50
Born between chaos and hatred - a lottery of fate We sit on the brink of extinction The world lies in wait Just a scratch on the surface Of time that will wash away We delude ourselves with the notion That we are here to stay As life starts to shrink An impending state of neurosis Will we awake from this negligent narcosis? On the brink, the brink of extinction We're on the brink, the brink of extinction Locked together in a mindless campaign It's only now we see Appreciation is the one redemption For all that lives and breathes Like a virus it's conscious - impure We have farmed disease It's time now to step back And find an inner peace As life starts to shrink An impending state of neurosis Will we awake from this negligent narcosis? On the brink, the brink of extinction We're on the brink, the brink of extinction Will we avoid a natural selection? Do we have the right to survive the failures? Nature, its force - the scales unbalanced What's the next step? How do we evolve? Can we avoid a natural selection? Do we have the right to survive the failures? Nature, its force - the scales unbalanced What's the next step? What can we resolve?
