Another great band I've been fortunate to see (an oldie):
This is probably the band I've seen more than any other: When music was great: 2 great bands I've seen many times here:
One of my first big shows (16 years old):
I was there for that one. Also saw them at Roseland for the Vulgar tour with White Zombie and some other time at the Coliseum i thnk
Baroness, Isis, Meshuggah, Clutch, Faith No More, Anthrax today. Booyah. TypeO, good to see you enjoyed AiC. I saw them last year when they came and I was completely caught by surprise how much I enjoyed it. I really didn't think without Layne I would get into it, but it was a fantastic show.
i was big into Agnostic,Warzone SOIA etc. Loved the shows. Was also into the LIHC scene and played in a few small bands. Those were fun days. Bands like Mind over matter,Neglect,Tension, and even earlier the LI thrash bands from Mastic like Cross fade,Societys Downfall,Wicked Sin.
Yeah, they were suprisingly good. I really like it. I think if Layne were still alive and they replaced him that would be one thing. But the fact that there is no other way but to replace him,Duvall does a nice job. When MC Rut were playing,i really thought it was Perry farrel in some new band until i bought the ep lol
Yep, hit the nail on the head. I used to have the old MOM green shirt with the dude putting the head through the flaming hoop, and have at least 2 Neglect shirts. You're going back to the old Sunday matinees at the Roxy in Huntington. I also saw Pantera with Type O at the Coliseum earlier in '94. Snuck in. Fantastic show. Dude, the Pipeline in Northport, the PWAC off 109. Deja 1 in Mineola, L'Amour's in Brooklyn, Castle Heights in Jackson Heights: That's when that scene was nothing but fun. Black eye, broken nose, chipped tooth, who give's a fuck????? Those are some of my favorite times. What bands were you in??
typeO, I'm listening to a couple tracks from the new Overkill album and I have to say it could be the best thing they've done in years, decades even.
Alice in Chains will be at the new MAC Center at Monmouth U, West Long Branch NJ May 20. Ticetks go on Sale Friday but there is a presale at TM 3/4. Looks like a last minute addition to the tour before the WMMR barbecue with STP on 5/23 in Camden. http://www.monmouth.edu/macatmonmouth/schedule.asp monmouth.edu/macatmonmouth/schedule.asp
http://forums.theganggreen.com/showthread.php?t=54739 Figured I'd post it to see if anyone from here had any input.
yeah,it's much better than anything they've done in some time. Last one i can really remember getting into was Horrorscope.
I jammed with Crossfade(had their name long before that gay nu- metal band) and Societys Downfall, but was too young at the time to fill the spots they were looking for. I played in a thrash band called Missing Corpse, and also played bass in a band called sky clad(not metal, more like Rush/genesis). Some of those guys now have a band called Deep Rising. Was Deja 1 in mineola ever calle the angle? I saw neglect in a tiny place in Mineola once. L'Amours, been there quite a few times, lol. I was at that Pantera/Type O show. I remeber everyone rushing the floor after Type O played their set.
So... Baroness are fricken amazing live. Not metal, but Clutch are pretty damn good live as well. Anthrax were fun too.
Decent new band anyone heard or seen them?
Saw WASP last night. They were good. It was more like Blackie Lawless, and some other guys, calling the selves WASP,but still cool. There were maybe 300 peoplke there. A far cry from the Monsters of rock for Blackie,i'm sure. I had tickets to see WASP numerous times when living in NY,and every time, something happened. I think it was twice they cancelled their show and another time something else. I got the tickets and figured something would happen. Well,As it turns out, they cancelled their NY show the other night. WTF? Good thing i now live in South Carolina. I finally got to see them. It only took 20 something years. And i got to stand about 10 feet from Blackie so it was cool.
Accept Reunion with new singer (2009–present) In May 2009, a possible Accept reformation surfaced when bassist Peter Baltes revealed that he spent a weekend at his house in Pennsylvania and "shredding away" with the band's guitarist Wolf Hoffmann. "Something amazing is in the works," Baltes explained. "As soon as I can, I'll let everybody know. Let's make the 'Metal Heart' beat again." On May 14, 2009, it was announced that Udo Dirkschneider would not be participating in the rumored Accept reunion tour.[6] Former TT Quick singer Mark Tornillo would become Dirkschneider's replacement.[2] In 2009, Accept decided to write and record new music for a 2010 release working with producer Andy Sneap (of Megadeth, Exodus, Testament, Arch Enemy and Onslaught fame). Titled Blood of Nations, it will be their first original album in fourteen years (since 1996's Predator).[7] Additionally, the band has announced that they will make their live debut with Tornillo on May 8th at the Gramercy Theatre in New York City.
