No, that was Anttaj Hawthorne and some other players. Lots of guys had been known to use marijuana before the draft. It was more serious with Castillo because it was steroids, and he even copped to it, which could be why SD selected him 1st round anyway.
Actually 4 games is for a first offense, 8 for a second, one year for a third. But I do agree with the premise of your post though.... By the way, if you are interested in more details on the policy you can find it here http://www.nflpa.org/pdfs/RulesAndRegs/BannedSubstances.pdf
Hmm, I always thought first offense = entry to the nfl drug programme. My mistake. Still think 2 and out stands.
It's amazing how, relative to baseball, nobody will care about this. Merriman will play once again and he'll probably get plenty of Pro Bowl votes from fans. He'll still have commercial deals, just like Ray Lewis and Lawrence Taylor- other linebackers who had problems. Merriman will not be ruined like Rafael Palmeiro.
http://www.deadspin.com/sports/nfl/no-steroids-in-the-nfl-nope-thats-baseballs-problem-209414.php It even gets reported differently. Uncanny.
No, he tested positive for medicinal steroids and he notified every team in the NFL of that through the form of a letter, so they knew that he wasn't juiced. He used the roids through a doctors prescription to help heal an elbow injury. You're thinking of Claude Wroten.
What rock have you been under? This was on 60 minutes and every major news outlet. Here is an example of one google search (learn how to use it) http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=2025197 There are many more stories of more players as well. None of them tested positive.
No need to be an ass. Do you really want to get into a tit for tat with me about google? I'm not a media Junkie like some of you. Looks like you feed, read, consume all the BS the Media puts out ...... Um Yeah... Good luck with that. So BTW, Where in this article does it say 7 players? It names 3. Also only says 1 was involved in obtaining shit for injecting..... I'm not gonna google little gossip stories. You can have all the fun you want with that but it still sounds like an old lady in a little sewing circle.
What is your fascination with sewing????? As I said in my post, this is an example of 1 article among many about this story. If want to learn more... look it up.
4 weeks 4 steriods?! man that is nothing. correct me if im wrong but wont they still b in his system by then? it shud b atleast a year for roids
The NFL runs on drugs and supplements always has and always will. The public understands freakishly big athletes are doing something wrong and they also understand they are on pain killers and other medications to get through the day to day grind. The public doesn't see baseball as a sport where drugs are needed to get through the season and are less forgiving about it. You would have to be nuts to think an NFL athlete can get through the season with Advil.
Not sure about this post. Were you disagreeing with me and/or trying to educate me or agreeing with me and adding on to what I wrote? (Yes, I find your post just that perplexing.) The NFL has not always run on drugs and supplements. The NFL has been around for 87 seasons. Steroids first became a problem in the 1970s with the Steelers being the biggest abusers. Leaguewide drug testing was initiated in 1987 and steroid testing in 1989. I am not concerned with flax seed, vitamin B, creatine, glutamine, whey protein, and the like. Most supplements NFL players use are legal. I'm sure you work with people who use some of the stuff. Painkillers? Nobody cares. It's steroids and HGH that we care about. It really was not that long ago when NFL players looked more like the public. In the 1960s most players had offseason jobs. They were not roided up and goofy. In the 1970s there were guards who were as big as running backs. The mid-to-late '70s is when it started to turn. See now this statement reads like you are talking down to me. For the record, I have no problem with vitamins and flax seed. What I have a problem with are steroids and HGH. The league is always going to have a problem with this because salaries are so high.
Not my intent at all Cakes. I think drugs, illegal drugs and steriods have been part of the NFL since the early 60's and it's been very public. Players with major injuries used to get injected with pain killers and brag about it. Players drank, smoked pot, and did all kinds of illegal drugs going back 50 years in the NFL. NFL players were always considered a little nuts and off the track. Baseball on the other hand has been the national game for over 100 years. Babe Ruth and Micky Mantle were drinkers but that's it. Baseball had a much cleaner image in general than football up until Free Agency. The public doesn't see Baseball players needing to do drugs to perform. Under the skin of the game we all understand football players can't survive on the straight and narrow but baseball players trying to get an edge seems more like cheating because we all can see ourselves playing baseball but only the most crazed maniac can envission themselves playing in the NFL. The public sees football players doing drugs and they don't care because they think everyone is. Baseball players they view as cheating when they do them.
