Ok -- lets go back to the original question.

Jets lose against Miami and beat Oakland.

    Then what:

    1. Scenario one -- Cincy wins today.

    2. Scenario two -- Denver wins today.

San Fransisco is a good team, don't underestimate them. Frank Gore could run all over the Broncos front four and Vernon Davis is a good matchup against the linebackers in coverage. The Broncos have a 7-4 conference record right now and that is another reason we need to root for Cincinatti.

Because taking that the one loss we get in the two weeks is against division rival Miami, then theyd have a better AFC East record even though both teams would have a 3-3 record(Im guessing then the next tiebreaker after that favors Buf over us).

But really, we just gotta win out to prevent all of this from happening. We win out, and its a good chance we get the 5th seed and fight NE who we beat at Foxboro. Or we can get Indy who barely beat us last time out and have the worst run D in the league if we end up as the 6th seed.

No. Buffalo would be 8-8 and wed be 9-7.
Of course we have to win out but that wasnt the question.

Looks like the Bengals are slipping. But whatever. I'd rather get in by winning the games.

Ok. Ill do this myself. The scenario is the Jets lose tomorrow and beat Oakland.

    IF DENVER WINS TODAY:

    Denver 9-6 (8-4) (v SF)
    JETS 8-7 (5-6) (v Oak)
    CIN 8-7 (6-5) (v Pitt)
    Ten 8-7 (5-6) (v NE)
    Jax 8-7 (5-6) (V kC)
    KC 8-7 (4-7) (V Jax)

Here what i can figure out. The first two are obvious.:

    1. The loser Jax/Kc is out.
    2. Anyone who loses is out.
    3. Jets lose a head to head against Cin b/c of conf.
    4. Jets win a head to head against Ten -- who would win a head to head against Jax.

Ok. I give up. jets will win two.

I love the jets. But if we don't beat Miami we dont deserve to be in the playoffs. This is informative but truthfully I dont care about playoff scenarios if we lose tomorrow. We lose tomorrow we dont deserve to be in the playoffs.

i dont care how we get in. If we are 9-7 and thats good enough, Ill take it and lets go.

Never quite understood the "we dont deserve to be in" -- you are what your record says you are -- and if your record and the sixth tiebreaker says you are a playoff team -- you are a playoff team.

Just look at the 6th spot in the NFC, worst case scenario for that is an under .500 team can make the playoffs with a 7-9 record.

9-7 in the NFC could clinch you a division(NFC West, Maybe NFC East)...

What a awful thread, trying to calculate how the Jets get in if they lose tomorrow. That's terrible. Jets won the day when Jax lost. It's in their hands now, period !!!

Figuring out how they get in if they lost tomorrow is ridiculous. Means you don't think the Jets are that good.

    well Denver won.

I'm very worried about a let down against Miami.
At least they control their destiny.

Now that the Broncos beat the Bengals......

Can anyone post the scenarios where the Jets would get in to the playoffs at 9-7?

It doesnt necessarily mean that, hes looking for A safety net in case the Jets caugh up a game unexpectingly(like we did at home vs Buffalo).

Because god knows that this board will meltdown if the Jets lose any of the 2 games upcoming because ''they think we will be eliminated''.

Fact is though, its highly possible that the Steelers and Chiefs beat the Bengals and Jags. Steelers have had the Bengals number at Cincy for a good amount of years, including last year in the playoffs. And Jags are HORRIBLE on the road, while KC is usually tough as heck at Arrowhead, especially in December.

We're pretty good, but we're not that good (YET). I trust that Tangini will have the team in good shape in a year or two but as of now we still have holes. I'd love to see us in the playoffs but I'm not that confident that we can beat the fish in their home turf.
