No. He cant go anywhere, its not in the Jets,Idziks,or Smiths best interest. Hes made a lifetimes worth of money here. He needs to earn that last 8 million. Guys that think Smith can start, dont realize what he was/was not asked to do at WVa. He is simply not ready. You have Lee as QB coach, who at this point should be spending minimal time with Sanchez, and Garrard..those two should be tutoring Smith to see if he can get to the next level. Mohrinweg, should be doing the opposite, spending time with Sanchez, and letting his subordinates get Geno ready to compete. This isnt college, 2 reads and Tavon Austin, doesnt cut it, unless you are Tom Brady and Wes Welker, and Danny Woodhead. If you ruin Smith, after Gholston, and Sanchez, youve extended the ruination from 3 years, to 7.
Yeap, used to be real fans and fun time, now its a total embarrassment.... so called Jet fans. Did they take a test? License?
It needs to be Garrard, Sanchez and Smith going into the year. Smith needs to ride the bench for a little while to learn the pro game. At this point unless Garcia has straightened Sanchez out he just can't be handed the starting job anymore. I agree that he has made a ton of money and he should earn it. If that means he's sitting his butt on the bench all year backing up Garrard then do be it I just doubt that Sanchez will get it together here because it's all mental and NY is not the place to get straight when you are a basketcase.
Using your logic Seattle should have never started Russell Wilson. Let the kid compete for the starting job before we assume he's not ready to start. I'm sure Lee and Mohrinweg will make a better decision on who will be the starting quarterback for the Jets this year.
The Jets had been whipping boys of the media for what happened at the end of 2011. Then what did they do? They traded for the player that the media loved to spend days talking about for some ungodly reason - Tebow - then found a big rock and hid him under it for the entire 2012 season. The media has their own reasons to hate the Jets. I have taken to avoiding sports channels lately. I already know what they are going to say.
IMO RICH EISEN is the worst of them all. He hates the Jets and makes no bones about it. He hated the Geno pick. Mayock is a phony. He was saying some team will get a great value here with Geno. A few minutes later we took Geno and Mayock went into the attack mode. He suddenly could make no sense of why we drafted another QB. He only added to the circus.
Garrard, is more valuable to the Jets, mentoring Smith, than getting hurt, and being away from the team, thats non sensical.
so is greenburg and we all know he's an *** clown and knows less about football than elton john knows about vagina
Wilson, played at WisconsIn. They dont run a shotgun oriented quick throw offense, that requires zero ability to read a defense, like WVa does. Big difference. It is a disservice to Smith, to even let him think hes not being groomed. We already saw how he handled a little adversity Thursday night. Why ruin another QB?
you could not pay me to sit there all day while someone announced draft picks. I would rather play bingo than do that.
That's true. I never said Eisen was an expect though, just thought it was funny that someone would think he hated the team.
You guys need to remember that the media is in the process of selling to their consumers. In a national event like the NFL draft they are going to slant whichever way they think sells best, and Jets fans are like 4% of ESPN's national audience, maybe. The other 96% wants to hear the Jets trashed or is indifferent. So we get all the Jet trashing going on because ESPN is selling. The Tebow situation definitely aggravated things because he was effectively an ESPN asset, but they'd be trashing the Jets either way. If this was a one team town and they were offending the greater metro area they'd probably be more careful but it's not a one team town. So they go for what sells to the national audience.
Not only is it not a one team town, but we have been the mets of football for years. The "news" and the "post" will always take a jet trashing story over a positive jets story no matter the situation. The only darksider way to look at it is seeing the smith pick as a way to gain publicity, but i think we're all smart enough to know that's not the case
I don't know half as much as the others on this board about the draft and I certainly don't know as much as the GM and Coach of the Jets, so I either trust that they used good judgement or assume that they failed. It's a new GM so there is no basis for assuming that the picks were flawed. When Omar Minaya would make a move, I would doubt it because of his track record. There is no track record with Idzik so I hope that Richardson wasn't a "reach" and that his character is good. Idzik and Rex spoke with him, his coaches, his friends, and watch hundreds of hours of film. That's good enough for me at this point. It's not good enough for Cimini, and others, who would say it's raining if any Jets representative said it was sunny while looking out the window.
