Right, and if McFadden busts, will that be extremely exciting for you? 'Exciting' is a stupid reason to draft a player. The fact that McShay even said that makes me wonder why that moron has a job.
Of course, this isn't saying that McFadden won't make more impact in the running game than Bush did...or basically I'll only be a fan if/once we draft him. I can see him being a sick player for us...but eh, chalk it up to personal preference. Give me Stewart or Mendenhall over McFadden. Personally, a power back to go with Leon would be sweet, and Stewart and Mendenhall are nasty, more prototypical RBs.
Dallas will pick McFadden ONLY if he falls to them. Otherwise they wont. They are closing in on a big deal for Barber and I doubt Jerry Jones putting in $15M+ salary figures just for two RBs. Not a chance the Cowboys pick McFadden. I would'nt mind seeing him wear a lonestar helmet though...
agreed, this team can still make the playoffs with thomas jones as their primary back, sure hes 29 but still has years left and he ran for 1100+ yards at 3.7 per carry with a crappy o line and most teams playing the jets 8 in the box. i still think the jets should trade down with someone who wants dmc if hes still on the bored and gholston and c long are gone and get extra picks. if no offers seem good then draft dmc, but we can make the playoffs with jones.
I have been surprised how much I am reading lately about McFadden's receiving skills. He might well be both the best back on the team as well as the best receiver too. No wonder he's rated the best player in the draft.
I honestly don't think we need McFadden. I think Jones and Washington will be great this year with our new O-line. I wouldn't waste the pick on McFadden...
Jones will never be great and Washington is too small to carry a big load. That's a shame too because Washington might be capable of being great if he could.
One player does not equate to a playoff spot! I personally think McFadden would be only used wisely if he was dangled for another player or additional draft picks. I feel we have two very reliable running back. We do not need another. Talk about a contract hold out before it?s even happened. Plus haven?t we learned that there aren?t many Curtis Martin like player out there that are the fiber of teams. Curtis would take pay cuts to the betterment of his team and after 4 years, I am sure McFadden would be asked to trim down for cap reasons and I think he would not do it for the team (he's got babies to feed)!
Agreed. We are not even close to being strong enough at most other areas to be taking a player that would, potentially, improve our strongest area (my opinion of course) - running game.
I say upgrading the front seven should be the priority. We need DE, ILB and OLB badly. I think RB is the last thing we need. You can win with Thomas and Leon. Nice 1-2 combo.
