I'd tend to agree. What I am happy about is that McKnight finally played like a guy who wants to be in the NFL. The Woodhead/McKnight debate has years to go before any conclusion, if ever, but McKnight did look promising, no doubt.

I'd like to see him get a few touches on offense, like 5/game. Maybe start to contribute on punt returns.

    Indianapolis delenda est.

Yeah. Different runners, different systems. I thought McKnight would be better prepared earlier because of USC's zone run game, but we all know his problems were upstairs.

You can look back. I wasn't upset when Woodhead was cut, except for the timing. When the Pats scooped him up, I said "Fuck". I think we'll see both backs succeed in their respective systems next season. The only thing that still sucks is that we handed the Pats an ideal back for their offense.

If LT gets off to a slow start, like Jones did last year, I can definitely see Rex/Schotty giving McKnight a chance. If he can get going, it wouldn't surprise me to see McKnight playing the Greene roll from last year and LT playing the Jones roll, with Greene somewhere in between.

I know it's the bills, but I still can't believe McKnight got 150+ yards rushing. This guy is a talent

i think they'll mix him in. last year woodhead seen time at WR/RB in the playoffs. i think we'll use him like LT in certain packages to get him in space. maybe even see him field punts. he shown he can play

I like the idea of Joe McKnight returning punts. Jo-Cotch is clutch-handed and all but he sometimes tends to stand there surveying the field a tad too long before turning it up. If McKnight doesn't take one to the house, he still provides the quicks and elusiveness to give the offense a short field to work with (or at least change field position should the 'O' not do anythin with it).

mcknight is probably not going to, but i wouldnt be upset to see him get carries

you dont just up and run for 150 plus in a game... hes gonna be a great back

not to take anything away from woodhead, but who cares anymore, i think mcknight will probably be better

Let's not get crazy, Connor averaged 5.5 YPC yesterday. Buffalo has a terrible defense. I'd love to see McKnight do something in postseason but let's not get crazy and expect it.

Cotch is actually a pretty good PR and most importantly he catches the ball. There is no way they'd put McKnight back there in a playoff game.

The last PR Td I believe was Santana Moss in the 2004 div rd at Pitt.

This place is like a bipolar chick without her meds.

That being said, I was very impressed with his hands and YAC. If he sees any touches in the playoffs I hope it's on screen passes or motioning McKnight out, that lik bugga us fast.

The Colts aren't very good at stopping the run either, it's possible we see a heavy dose of the running game Saturday and that include some carries for McKnight. I doubt he's a big factor though.

looks like all our games will be hard fought, close games.

which means shotty/rex will not risk putting joe in the game with his fumbling issues he had in preseason.

if we see joe behind sanchez, it will be for a pass out of the backfield in the flat (ala LT).

just don't think rex will risk running a rookie up the gut in games that one turn over will decide the outcome.

    No he didn't!!

Conner did, but do you take away his longest run or do you allow those?

Normally I'd want the guy with sure hands ... but in this case we probably need to score on specal teams or defense to win ... so give me McKnight.

BTW ... I think its been more than 10 years since we returned a punt for a TD.

I don't expect him to get the ball much if at all with Greene and LT back in, but it's nice to know we can go to him now if we need another guy for whatever reason in a tight spot. My favorite thing about yesterday was that he didn't put the ball on the ground in 30 carries or whatever, for that reason I think they might use him if necessary. The yardage is probably a bit inflated since it was against the Bills and probably not even their best players, but I was very encouraged by his day. And he caught the ball well too, that's important.

McKnight has not earned the punt return duties in the playoffs.

That is too crucial, I'd rather Cotchery back there so at least we know we won't lose possession.

McKnight did play great, but it was the Bills people. If anything this is a sign that he can contribute in a major way next season and some spot duty in the playoffs.

I agree. The main purpose of punt returns is to secure the ball and not lose yardage, anything beyond that is a bonus.
