Rumor has it that Mcfadden's 3rd cousin (once removed) owns a house in New Jersey and cleaned up the guest room anticipating DMC's selection by the Jets. If that doesn't tell you he's gonna be a Jet I dont know what does.

We already drafted Mcfadden in the 4th round a few years ago, his name is Leon Washington and he costs alot less and stays out of trouble.

Leon Washington isn't on McFadden's level. I still like him on the team, but McFadden is better. Also gives us more options on offense. With McFadden and Washington together, at the same time on the field, we'll be pretty good.

I agree, Mcfadden may be a better 3rd down back than Neon Leon, but not that much better. Outrunning guys to the corner is a rarity in the NFL these days. Mcfadden is gonna find that out just like Reggie Bush did.

I disagree, we'd be able to get all 3 involved. DMC played the slot last year a lot at Arkansas when Felix Jones was getting carries, and he can do that while TJ is getting carries this year. If nothing else, it's a major weapon/decoy that makes opposing defenses think twice about stacking the box. Second, Leon really isn't a great "running" back, when he had the opportunity to get multiple carries at once he wasn't great--he's better on third downs when he can be used on screens or on runs when the defense is expecting a pass. In addition, he can be also used in the slot--when McFadden or Jones is in the backfield, teams will put their safeties in the box, and we can screen it to Leon for a big gain. It's all about having weapons, Schott is creative enough to get them all involved.

Guys, some people should read Kurt's profile. Don't be afraid to take McFadden. This kid has star written all over him. Yes, he has his problems, but if he hits, this is the next hall of fame Jets runningback. With the additions to the OL and Tony Richardson, imagine McFadden running there. Our offense would go from pedestrian to explosive.

This does not make any sense, if we trade up to #2, why take DMc if C Long is there???

I'm kind of surprised because Long is the definition of a "Mangini guy", but if they really think McFadden is that good than I don't see why not. People comparing him to Bush and Leon are fools and have likely never actually watched the guy play and are only formulating what they know about the guy from scouting reports. He's tightly muscled, but that doesn't mean that he can't knock guys over who are in the way. Hell, he had one of the nastiest stiff arms in college football last year. Also, the guy completely torched college footballs best and most physical defense (LSU).

Bush was afraid of contact and never could run between the tackles; Bush is essentially the god of gadget players. He was and is the best WR in the '06 class sans maybe Colston and is a 3rd down back at RB. McFadden plays mean and plays tough, and yes, he can run up the gut and drag defenders with him. He also has the potential to be a very good reciever out of the backfield. On top of all that, McFadden's 5" taller than Leon and has much more room to grow on his frame; Leon's maxed out his frame and won't ever get and stronger. There's a reason why he's ranked #1 on many teams' boards (someone from ESPN said something like 20 of the 32 teams had him at #1).

Guys this is all a smoke screen. THE JETS DONT WANT MCFADDEN. Plain and simple.

I doubt the Jets are trading up, but if we some how do trade up it sure as heck wont be for McFadden. These are mind games leading up to some thing else.

Think about it, this coaching staff is defensive minded. Adding a great defensive player (Gholston most likely, or Long) would improve the defense tremendously.

Our running game is set, Thomas Jones and Leon Washington running behind an improved offensive line and one of the best run blocking FBs in the NFL Tony Richardson. Its set.

If we want to beat New England and Tom Brady we need some defensive power, and we need it when it comes to rushing the passer (see the Giants). Adding Calvin Pace was huge, but we need some one else coming off the corners, and if you think its going to be Bryan Thomas you are joking yourself.

Gholston is our guy if he's there at 6, if not we trade down. Plain and simple.

McFadden will not be a Jet not matter what, this is all a smoke screen.

I don't believe that. They'd have to be completely Machiavellian and a little sick to fuck with the guy this much that he's convinced they want him and then to pass? If they love Chris Long that much, why hasn't he been in town so often? Why hasn't he been asked about NY? I think Chris Long is pretty much the definition of vanilla. I'll pass, thanks.

As of right now it looks like the Jets won't get squat if the DON'T trade up so for the umpteenth time expect it to happen. Long to St Louis. Dorsey to Atlanta, McFadden to Oakland and Gholston to KC. The Jets? Ryan, a huge reach or a trade down where they will get screwed again.

GB, you can't get scared off picking a position because a pick from the way past busted out. I'd LOVE to get this kid in green.

  14. Our running game is in tact...but is it elite? Could it stand to get betteer? Of course it could..especially long term.

And btw..there is a VERY good chance we take Mcfadden

I really hope we draft McFadden just so you can eat those words. You have absolutely no idea what our front office is planning on doing. Posting 5 times in one thread about how we aren't gonna draft the guy just shows your extreme bias.

Don't get me wrong, I would love to have Gholston, Long or even a trade down, but you're talking out of your ass even though you might be right about the situation.

I agree with this 100%. Dewayne played hard all the time. There were plenty of times when he was just too tired to do anything and that was a problem, but was it his problem?

I guess I'm the only person in the world that wants Jonathan Stewart.

And Rice Crispies are a gang symbol FYI. Doesn't Crackle wear a bandana?

I'd love to get Jonathan Stewart too. When was the last time the Jets had a bruiser that forced his way into the end-zone with brute force?

He would be my ideal pick in a trade down scenario.

I don't know about Crackle wearing a bandanna, but Pop definitely carries a Desert Eagle and a doo-rag.

A bruiser? With speed? And the best stiff-arm in college football? Why yes, I'd take that. He IS someone that we could pick and still use with both TJ and Leon.

All three of em' are murderers and rapists. Don't get fooled into thinking it's just Pop. He's just the muscle. Snap is the brains of the outfit and well, the reason I pointed out Crackle earlier . . . He's pure evil.
