If version 2 is an upgrade, I'm excited...

I like the McElroy selection, and I think the draft plan of looking for a QB every year is a sound one. Who knows what opportunities he will get, or how his career will play out? I am going to enjoy the ride.

Either way, it's a little too early to get worked up one way or the other don't ya think?

I loved the pick. Tanny said he was going to take a page from the Ron Wolf book and draft late round QBs often. This will happen again in the future with the Jets. Tanny will take a late rounder and try to groom him.

G-Mac can develop into a decent backup in a few years, and I had him rated higher because of his ability to read defenses.

It'll take him a few years, but he may be able to be a hold the fort guy for a month if Sanchez is out.

Well if he is Chad Pennington without the injuries we have the best back up Qb in the league and got the steal of the draft. With that said, right now he is just an unproven late round pick with physical limitations.

Hopefully we have our backup of the future and hopefully we never have to see him play.

He won a National Championship. He beat SEC teams regularly! His arm is quite a bit stronger then some people are saying. he can make all the throws except 60 yards downfield. but then how many toimes will a QB be asked to connect 60 yards down the field? McElroy is smart, accurate and experienced. IMO we got a very good QB for a steal!

what you call the hating on Chad has nothing to do with his potential as a Qb coach.

"took us to the playoffs" - it's a team sport.

No not at all, just wasn't sure if the coat hanger analogy was intended to suggest this...

Very good point and why I see McElroy on the PS this season. I don't know if Ryan ordered enough Geritol and lube to make Brunnel an actual option under center. Clemens, who I like, is a FA. Ainge, if he gets help for his addiction issues, can be good (I can't believe I've started rooting for him after he came out of the closet). Does anybody really have any idea what O'Connell brings to the table? May the Football gods please, please protect Sanchez!!!

I was actually surprised at how much power Brunell was able to put behind his throws in Buffalo, but if it came down to a Sanchez injury then I would hope that McElroy was able to go.

I'm OK with Brunell getting the call to go in for a game or two, I'd much rather have a veteran than a rookie replacing Sanchez should the unthinkable occur earlier in the season.. It's not like Schottenheimer would be doing much aside from calling running plays anyway. Let McElroy learn a little, then transition over.

Either way, I love the pick. He was a winner at Alabama and a smart QB. Once he gets a handle on the offense, I'm sure Rex and Schottenheimer will be comfortable with letting him read the defense and decide which running play to check to, same as they'd do with Brunell.
