I was one of the few who said that if Ryan fell to our pick that we should have grabbed him. I definately thought he was gonna be good in the NFL compared to a lot who thought he'd be a bust and so far Ryan is proving me right.

    Flacco however is not

As a FORMER Falcon fan (but I still keep up), with SO MANY holes they had to fill, I thought they should have taken Dorsey at three and then maybe picked up the guy from Louisville or Flacco in the late first / early second round. DUDE was I WRONG huh?

The thing that Matt Ryan brought, beyond arm-strength and other measurables, is an uncanny ability in his college career to make a play when a play needed making. A never-say-die sort of thing.

Would that be the elusive "it" factor? or more of a "wow" thing?

Ryan has succeeded in Atlanta for a number of reasons. Obviously his intelligence, maturity and leadership were well known before the draft. But with the domed stadium, Atlanta gives him the perfect place to play. No crazy winds or cold weather to challenge his moderate arm. And add a fan base hungry for someone to chase away Michael Vick's ghost. If Ryan had come to NYJ, Chicago, etc there's no guarantee he'd have have done as well.

A big part of success for NFL rookies is going to the place with the right fit. Even the most talented players in the wrong offense or defensive scheme will struggle. And Ryan is in the place where he's most likely to do well.
