I don't see Rex letting him get cut. It would go against the player-friendly/loyalty image Rex has created for himself.
Sorry man, I can't get over the fact he was yucking it up on TV with his former buddies after his team lost a tough game. Yeah, he said some thing that needed saying but after hearing him shouting let's go to the steakhouse his comments doesn't really carry much weight for me. Is it me or he can't keep on his feet making cuts?
Well, I don't know if the year is over but I think you have identified one of the major issues for the JETS here, they did not improve their WR corps, it has take a step backward with both Burress and Mason and frankly, that's on the GM.... Holmes is great but he needs to keep his mouth shut so his immaturity as a person doesn't show. Yes, really. Players need to act like professionals, not high school kids.
he has so far been a bust but he wont get cut. The Jets, the OC will have to figure where he could fit in special roles. But that would clearly be asking Schotty to do too much...
Cutting Mason would be a mistake unless our passing game fails to ever get on track this season in which case letting him go wouldn't matter anyway. Even at his age, he is quicker, runs sharper routes, and is much more elusive after the catch than Kerley.
It's not an either-or proposition. Mason leaving and Schotty leaving aren't mutually exclusive. If the rest of the staff thinks Kerley is ready, and Mason is both a locker room cancer and shot as a legit #3 WR, why not make the move? The team needs a wake-up call anyway.
With all due respect, too many "ifs" in your statement to actually justify cutting him. While I don't doubt that Mason was behind the leak of the Shotty revolt (which is a huge no-no for a coach like Rex) the very fact it was leaked by a player who knows Rex so well may be a sign or symptom that the players are losing confidence in Rex's previously unquestioned leadership. I also suspect that Plax and Holmes were equally involved but Mason's comparatively cheap salary made him a much easier fall guy. Again, in my opinion, I don't believe Kerley is nearly as accomplished a receiver as Mason and cutting him solely for the purpose of "sending a message" would be tantamount to cutting our noses off to spite our faces. Now if Mason fails to learn from his extended bench time this past Sunday and continues to be disruptive, I would agree with you that he would have to go.
We could have Megatron and Andre Johnson in green and white and the offence would still be stuttering, it isn't an issue of our receiving corps. I realise that there were a couple of drops on Sunday but all receivers drop the ball on occasion.
Oh Man, Megatron and AJ would look sweet in Jets green, running either side of a double fake reverse just before Greene gets dropped for a one yard loss. That would be awesome to watch.
Kerley's not nearly as accomplished a receiver at Mason, obviously. Mason has had close to 15 years or so to "accomplish," whereas Kerley has had five games. And Kerley is not nearly as close to being shot as Mason is, likewise obviously. If the discussion is only about this season, then yes, keeping Mason makes more sense than cutting him. But if the expectation is that Kerley develops into a #3, and the team believes it has a chance to improve the team going forward into next year more by developing a young #3, then Kerley gets the shot. That way, he won't have the growing pains of breaking through next year, since he will have already done so this season.
im the truth champ ....my job is to post you the truth people hate me im ugly i smell of feces and im in your f*cking face
