even if cromartie play's as "bad" as he did last year he is an upgrade over the revolving door of mediocrity we had at the #2 spot all of last year. as far as kyle wilson goes that is just wishful thinking. either you can cover a guy or you can't and he can, that won't be changing anytime soon. if for some reason wilson struggles we have lowery who is capable of being a solid number 3 guy if needed.

i would expect you to like the chances of the guys on your team but i just don't think it's gonna happen for them against this secondary. if the fins are gonna beat the jets this year it is gonna need to with a very strong ground attack and an opportunistic passing game. i'll sign up right now for henne throwing 30+ passes in both games.

No it goes to show that defensive scheme we had was awful, and Revis was a rookie I believe.

Revis, or Cromartie I believe will be able to lock down Marshall by themselves. Cro would have a harder time at it obviously, but I still think he has the ability to do so.

So now we have our Elite Corner on Marshall, and a above average Corner(who will flourish in this scheme) mixed in on the lesser wr's. Can't wait to see Henne put up 120 yards.

lol that type of performance from the Wildcat vs New York will never happen again.

The Jets also threw about 75% as much as the Fins did last year. Talent wise, Edwards is clearly the better receiver. To argue otherwise is nothing but pure homerism. You're talking about a guy who has had a single season better than any that Brandon Marshall has had if you want to go by just stats. Clearly, Marshall is the better receiver.

Cromartie is also far less of a question mark than either of our #2 guys from last season and far less of a question mark than your starting CB's who were among the worst in the league last season. Take a closer look at his "bad" season from last year. He was an above average CB in coverage and playing in a system that didn't match his skillset. Rex will probably be able to play cover 0 a lot more often this season giving him another DB to do what he pleases with. Good luck moving the ball against that.

I don't get what ur saying, Edwards is the better receiver?? Cuz if that's what ur saying then u've completely lost ur mind, they're not even in the same league. For the record, Marshall will slap Cro around, there's no way Rex Ryan will leave them two iso'd. Revis, on the other hand, yea I can see him sticking marshall, that's gonna be an exciting match up. Don't underestimate marshall, he's used to going up against Aso twice a year (he don't catch shit against him, but then again who does?), AND he practices against Bailey. Aso and Bailey = #1 and #2 cb since '06-'08, arguabley

You need to work on your reading comprehension. I was responding to a post saying Bess/Hartline were as good or better than Edwards. I used the Marshall example to show that a) using just stats at face value is silly, and b) to support my argument that Edwards is clearly better than those 2. I also specifically said that Marshall is clearly the better receiver.

Why the hell would he put Cromartie on Marshall when he has the best CB in the world? He will on the other hand, trust Cro in single coverage on Hartline or Bess while Revis is singled on Marshall. So if he is feeling ballsy enough, he could potentially run cover 0 with the 2 safety positions used to rush the passer or set traps.

Marshall didn't lock up with Aso twice a year because Aso doesn't follow the #1 receiver around like Revis does. You can't compare Aso and Revis because they do different things. Aso is great but it's very easy for teams to avoid him because a) he stays on one side of the field and b) the rest of the defense sucks cock. Revis on the other hand, follows the #1 around and has a crazy coach that makes QB's throw his way with his scheme. So not only is he on an island against the best receivers, the QB's are baited into throwing at him. That's why only 2 CB's in the league were thrown at more than Revis last year.

Baily is about 4 years out of him prime.

Marshall/Revis will be a good matchup, but it's one that Revis usually wins.

It's funny, all we heard all offseason prior to the Fins landing Marshall from the Fins fans was that they didn't have any receivers last year. Henne did all he did with much less at the WR position. Now that they have Marshall all of the sudden Hartline and Bess are better than Edwards and Cotchery. The same 2 who the fins fans considered much better than the fins receivers.

    clowns.

wait does this guy think Bess, and Hartline are better than Cotchery, and Edwards? rofl

I cant really see Marshall dominating Cromartie, but being able to put up a decent day. He is in a way better defense right now.

Ur right, my reading comprehension is horrible. U said Edwards is clearly the better wide reciever. Then u said Marshall is clearly the better wide reciever. For some odd reason that confused me.

Well, Ryan wouldn't necessarily put Cro on Marshall, but there's something called "zone" defense in the nfl, its where you don't really pick and choose who you guard, more like you pick and choose what area you guard. So sometimes Marshall can end up in Cro's zone. Anyway, that sentence was more for JfaulkNYJ, who said cro should lock marshall one on one.

And, actually, last year the week after Marshall set a record 22 catches, they faced the raiders, and aso shadowed Marshall MOST of the game and gave up 0 receptions. Just a lil fyi for u. I know cuz i'm a raider fan. The same reason why I know that Cro (former charger, afc west) can't hold down marshall (former bronco, afc west).

    i don't understand

was the chargers defense considerably better when he was playing well at the beginning of his career than it was the last few years?

It's called context. Go back, and look what I was responding to.

Thanks for the hot tip. The Jets almost always have Revis locked up on the #1 receiver. That's how there defense works. The overwhelming majority of the time Revis is in man coverage, especially when facing a team with a true #1.

Right, why bother looking at Asomugah when you can run the ball at will or throw the ball at will at any other CB. I'm not sure what your argument is? Aso shut down Marshall so Revis won't?

As WSW said you should probably brush up on the reading comprehension. He said that Edwards had one season that was better than any one season Marshall has had. He then went on to say that even with that fact Marshall is still clearly the better receiver. He was simply making a point that just looking at stats can't tell the whole story.

In his first season they played a man defense with heavy pressure from a roided up Merriman and he thrived. In '08 he played the entire season with a broken hip and Tedd Cotrell was fired. Rivera was promoted and installed a mostly zone based defense. Last season in that zone defense with little to no pressure Cromartie was pretty good in coverage giving up a 72 (or something close to that) opposing QB rating when thrown at.

He's a man cover corner and he's coming back to a man coverage scheme with heavy pressure like the one he raped people in, in 2007. His man coverage skills are much better than either Sheppard or Lowery of '09.

The reason he was available is that he's a liability against the run, lacked effort at times, and in a zone scheme you rely more on your corners to stop the run.

i think you are assuming a lot

1, that the 1st season wasn't an anomaly

2, that the jets are going to have enormous pressure since they have no elite pass rusher

3, you're forgetting that cromartie played against orton, jamarcus, and cassell 6 games last year...that might raise somebody's stats just a tad

Different Defensive Scheme buddy. I don;t think he will LOCK him down, but I'm sure in this scheme Cro would be able to leave Marshall under 70yards. Revis will be on him though.

Hell yes it was. They were able to generate a hell of a better pass rush than they could last year.

The first season was his only one in a man/pressure scheme. If you watch the guy play football it's easy to see that he has top notch man coverage skills. I guess I don't have any stats to prove that for you, you'll just have to see it for yourself.

The Jets had good pressure last season, but didn't amass many sacks. The number of sacks you get is not the only measure of how much pressure you're getting. I remember our first game against the Pats last season we "hit" Brady something like 23 times but never sacked him. He was under tremendous pressure that whole game but we had 0 sacks. Do you honestly believe the #1 pass defense in the league(by far) didn't have a good pass rush? Are you really going to close your eyes and pretend like the Chargers had a similar amount of QB pressure as the Jets?

Now bring back Kris Jenkins and see what happens. We picked up a girly situational pass rusher too. He managed a decent season rushing the passer last year on a shitty Miami defense, I think Rex can get something out of him.

Fair enough. He can only play who's put in front of him though. It would be interesting to see a breakdown of what he did against the different QB's. The Fins corners played Sanchez, and Edwards for a quarter of there season and still had a pretty shitty season statistically.

That number doesn't really mean anything when he moves to this defense though. He will be used completely differently and in a manor that plays to his strengths.

ok, whats the fuckin beef? dude mentions a reciever in line 2 in a post w/ 8 lines, and you respond without naming a single dolphin reciever, just saying that edwards is clearly better. the only other fin reciever u mention is right after, when u say marshalls clearly better. Notice when I responded I said I don't understand what ur trying to say.

After reading what u responded to I still don't know what the fuck ur trying to say, or who ur comparing to who. Context or no context, that post was written as tho it was coming from a 4 year old mentally retarded child. The only reason I know now is cuz it was all cleared up after my post.

the first season was the only season that he played in a system that relied on man coverage the way our defense does so it is the best indicator of how he will play this year. Will he get 10 picks? probably not but he will be good.

the jets got tons of pressure on every qb not named manning last season with even less pass rushing talent than they will have this year. lets not forget that our improved secondary will allow for even more different blitzes from rex so pressure won't be an issue.

your last point is dumb so i won't address that one.

Don't have to read the article.

A little trash talking is fun. Especially when a number one WR on a division rival gets on Revis Christ. He likes challenges.

well, raiders won that game, so obviously whatever scheme they were using by avoiding aso didn't work. Unless it was their will to lose that game.

The "arguement" is that Marshall has played with and against some top rated corners, so don't underestimate him thinking that him facing revis = automatic lock down. I, PERSONALLY (no one has to agree) think that Marshall is a better reciever right now than moss, dude is nasty
