This is ridiculous. This team was built to contend for a title. In theory, we have the best pitcher in baseball, three of the best hitters, and one of the best closers, with a reasonable if not overwhelming supporting cast. Keeping in mind that some blame lies on underachieving players, I'm beginning to subscribe to the school of thought that most of the blame lies on Willie. Even though I don't see what Jerry Manuel or anyone else can do, perhaps it's time to cut the cord.
In a calendar year we have been 3 games below .500, that is 3 games short of a complete season, it is time the mets brass gets their head out of their ass if they think this is just a passing phase.
