Well, Vanden Hurk's ERA is over 7, given up like 75 hits in 50 innings.. so he will shut us down to the tune of 0-1 run in 7 innings
I'm amazed that they've kept giving this guy starts. His WHIP is almost 2. he's horrible almost every time out and this is his 12th start.
http://www.sportsline.com/mlb/gamecenter/recap/MLB_20070419_NYM@FLA el duque threw a great game and vandenhurk only lasted 4 innings, getting pummeled.
You and statjeff22 haven't really written anything that is wrong. My point is I have seen an 85-win Twins team sizzle in the playoffs and I've seen a 116-win Mariners team fizzle in the playoffs. I just don't know why a team with a significantly higher win total has an advantage in MLB playoffs. It obviously stands to reason that the one team has better players than the other team and they would be made a betting favorite. I just don't know why they have an advantage. As for what I bolded: No, I don't necessarily think that the one team has a better chance (so long as the .537 team qualifies for the postseason). One extra home game in a series is just not that big of a deal in baseball. The main things are team health and the quality of the pitching staffs.
Sosa is pretty much the only reliable guy in the bullpen right now, so yeah, it makes sense to have him up in the 3rd inning, Willie.
