yeah i was friends with jen messier from lyman .... i also played baseball.... you all had alot of talent in 96... rocked me pretty good ...one game i pitched there
I know I'm playing the "what if" game by saying this.....but i believe our record is worse if Clemens was the starter from the get-go.
That's insignificant right now. I don't think anyone here is complaining about the fumbles. Yes, Sanchez plays on a better team, but the point is very clear...that he is still a rookie. Mistakes happen. It takes time. The Roethlisbergers, Ryan's and Flacco's are few and far between.
Our 3-0 start was a mirage for 3 weeks all jets fans were watching those games in the sahara desert without a single drop of water and hallucinating, thinking the jets were as good as anyone. The only thing that has changed from then was reality has set it. How many people had the Jets going 10-6? I had them going 6-10 to 8-8 at best. We have a lot of talent and we will be very good sooner rather then later we are on the right track
There's no other way to put it, this was a shitshow for him today. Giving up on his entire career at this point is just stupid though, I still think there's a good chance he turns out to be a good qb. At this point obviously not this year, but things could be worse.
Its seems like the Sanchez folks will not tolerate anybody on here who dares to point out that Sanchez is playing like crap and costing the team games. But that is a fact. Stating that fact doesn't mean anybody hates on Sanchez. Its just a fact. He is a rookie who sucks right now. Maybe he will become the next Peyton or the next Aikman down the road, but right now he sucks. There is nothing wrong with pointing out that fact. Also the Sanchez fanatics need to chill out on trashing the rest of the team as if that is some kind of a lame excuse for the the fact that Sanchez is sucking. The rest of the team is playing a helluva lot better than Sanchez is. Dude had 5 turnovers today. That plain and simple SUCKS. Now the real question is whether Sanchez should be allowed to keep sucking or whether Sanchez should be benched. I am guessing that the Jets are committed to letting Sanchez keep sucking b/c they figure that it will enable him to develop into an eilite QB. I Hope they are right. I favored letting Clemens start the season and I still think that would have been a better way to bring Sanchez along more slowly and let him get a better feel for the NFL game. I support Sanchez 100% but I also know that he sucks as a QB right now. Put it this way if Clemens was the Qb and he had just turned the ball over 5 times, there would be no question - He would be Benched.
We're always told that the most difficult part of the transition from NCAA to NFL is adjusting to the game's speed; sitting on the sideline, holding a clipboard will not allow for that. If you are going to start a rookie QB, knowing he's gonna make some mistakes and even flatout lose some games, then you do it with a player who has the psychological resilience that won't hinder him when he makes mistakes. Based on the way Sanchez speaks, combined with his work ethic, he IS that player, which is why it was the right decision to start him and leave him in despite his terrible play at times. The kid will get better. He has shown he can make $ throws; he's shown poise; he's shown confidence; he's shown short-memory. He's also shown the opposite of those traits, but the fact that he has shown them is evidence enough that he has both the physical and mental skills to succeed, while enduring failure in the process.
Yeah, we were pretty nasty. I probably know some people you knew. I play softball in C-Town with a few guys from you HS team....send me a PM so we can get off the board here.
They didn't record fumbles back when Aikman was a rookie but I'm pretty sure he had a couple..
Not saying hes Jordan but Jordan wasn't Jordan until a few years into his career. Jordan has said it Shaq has said it Peyton Manning has it, that quote is as true as anything
Not surprising to see that I am only agreeing with Electric here and maybe a few others. Guys he is a rookie and has like 20 pro starts in both college and in the NFL. There's going to be some learning and a transition. Did you see what happened with Eli in years 1 and 2? Shoot it took him until the playoffs of 08 to shake doubters away, who some still this day get on Eli for poor performances. It is tough to expect a rookie QB to outplay Belichick's Defense twice in a season, much less on the road. We need to show some patience. I can understand the distaste for someone like Gholston who hasn't shown a whole lot but for Sanchez, its getting ridiculous seeing some of these posts. I think the bigger concern here is of one of our other homegrown guys, D'Brickashaw Fergerson who is getting beaten worse than a drum and is not giving Sanchez much time at all. Woody has been miserable too. I am getting very concerned for D'Brick because he has not evolved at all during his entire time here.
You may be right about not running fluidly with the back up, but the TC thing? Everyone that knows anything about football knew that if Sanchez played as well or just a little better than Clemens, he would get the job. That doesn't necessarily mean he was the best man for the job. It comes down to dollars. Sanchez makes a lot more of them than KC. Why pay the guy that much to sit? I don't think benching him is a good thing. He should start every game. I do however, think that pulling him in a game that he is singlehandedly giving to the opponent, when the game is still winnable, is necessary. He has had multiple bad games this year. When is it no longer growing pains? It looks to me like the growing pains are outweighing the positives. Its time for him to pay the consequences of his poor decisions.
