And Aikman was benched himself...again it's not a bad thing to let the kid clear his head. Of course this staff refuses to see that so we're stuck with Sanchez regressing.
That's punishment for playing poorly, which has happened to most of us playing football, soccer, basketball. I'm guessing you played football and didn't play quarterback? First, it's harder to bench a quarterback and expect the team to run fluidly with the backup. Second, there's no need to punish Mark for playing poorly. He knows that he's making mistakes and Clemens is worse than Sanchez (training camp = evidence).
There was nothing in my post that was an over reaction. Sanchez has been awful. Why turn my post into another personal pissing contest? Disagree, fine. What did I expect? With this team and from Sanchez? I thought he might lose three or four games, I thought he might win 2 or 3. I thought he might be able to put together a game winning drive from behind once or twice late in the 4th quarter. I expected him to be able to at LEAST be able to hit the sideline when he throws the ball away. He almost got picked last week that way, remember? That INT he threw from the end zone should have been thrown out of bounds. At the very least, I thought he could throw the ball into the bench when he had to. Now, I expect a minimum of 3 turnovers a game from Sanchez. That's a minimum, until he shows me more. Those are my expectations. And I don't want him benched either. I want to see at least some improvement.
Mark Sanchez is literally one of if not the least experienced rookie QBs to start from game 1 in NFL history. He is a project that is playing. It is unfortunate of how many turnovers he has had and he has cost us 3 games no questions asked but what did you people expect? Hell even wonder boy Matt Ryan has looked like shit this season and Joe Flacco has easily passed him up. it's going to take time at least he has shown flashes of brilliance meaning he could become successful one day unlike Vernon Gholston. I hate to lose more then i love to win and it bothers me to go down in flames like we are but did anyone REALLY think we were super bowl contenders to begin with? Maybe if we had Brett Favre haha
You probably won't see it this year......this kid needs a lot more "game experience" under his belt before he starts to turn the corner. This season is a wash......the goal now should be to keep Sanchez healthy for the remainder of the season....and to have a good draft/offseason. People expecting a SuperBowl...or maybe even the playoffs this year....were putting the cart before the horse.
