I just don't think you waste a #6 pick on a guy that has so much Bust potential... I would rather take a surefire T or G than Mario.
Matt Moore is a proven vet... Geno is a 24 year old who can't read a defense. I think I'll go woth the well seasoned vet, who doesn't need his center to read coverages for him.
like i said im down for drafting mariota and seeing who is better under chan, giving Geno the day 1 nod as starter regardless. He's more experienced & still has plenty of potential. If all fails we have Mariota & hopefully a vet to lean on. now to speak on leaping up.. i think if we were to do so it would have to be 3rd pick swap with the jags. They don't want a QB and could still probably land whoever they wanted at 3 at the 6 spot. They could look at the trade as maybe a free 3rd pick and another pick as well
So you would rather go with a 30 year old who we know is going to only be here for a year, than one more season with Geno who could possibly take the next stop and be our franchise QB for the next 10+ years??
The dude has nearly no bust potential, one of the safest QB prospects in a while. You're just a Geno homer and you don't want anyone supplanting him. I get it. _
I know Geno WON'T be our franchise Quarterback for the next decade and just about every Jet fan agrees with me. I'd rather start the vet, who doesn't throw three consecutive picks in a game.
No bust potential.. Wow. I am not a Geno homer I just want to see him get a fair shot with a competent OC.. It's not like he has shown absolutely nothing in his 2 years here.. He has shown glimpses of what it takes to be that guy. One more year is all I am saying. Most QB's aren't great 2 years into the NFL. It takes time to learn the game.
So after 30 games since he hasn't shown you anything, you just drop him? We are talking about the hardest position to grasp in sports, and after 30 games we are showing him the door. Makes sense.
I'd go for Moore and from what I've read he wants to go to a team where he has a good chance to play. The only drawback is that he's rarely played in Miami so he's a bit of an unknown quantity. So if I'm the Jets I offer him a deal like the Bucs did McCown last season which was 2 years and 10 mil with about 4 guaranteed. And the starting job. The Jets could still draft Mariota. If they do you then get rid of Geno. If you don't draft Mariota you keep Geno.
Yeah you are, always have been. Every QB to ever play the game has shown "glimpses". It's the 4 game stretches of the worst football I've ever seen in BOTH his years that sticks out to me--stretches when we were still in a competitive situation. Not the mirages of the last 4 game of both these seasons when he wasn't even good, he was just not horrible. When nothing was on the line. _
Like I said not a homer... He could take the next train out of here if he sucks next year.. But I will say it again, he has played in 30 games in the NFL and you are expecting him to light it up. He is still learning.
love Geno's chemistry with Decker especially on deep passes. Had Decker stayed healthy Geno would've gave us our first 90-100 catch WR in lord knows how long. Our best WR usually finishes with a BS 45-50 catches, that's a joke. Also, I like his chemistry with Amaro. Amaro dropped some game changing passes this year but I expect that to get better with experience. let Geno cook!
Don't worry Mariota will come to the Jets and this board will be calling for his head Week 3 Year 1, talking bout bring Geno back.
It's hard to grasp because you have to be smart to do it. He's not smart. You can't fix dumb, you can only hide it. That QB is not going to win consistently year after year and isn't winning you a SB. But hey, if you're happy with a wild card every few years before getting summarily bounced in the first round, you stick with that plan. _
was learning under a staff that doesn't have a clue! Geno was like the kid in that class where the teacher barely teaches you shit just gives you the book and tells you randomly you have a test in a few days and expects you to just study and know everything on your own.
