I don't see the Skins doing a deal with Philly. It still matters that they are in the same division.

On the other hand if I'm the GM in DC, I take Mariota with my pick. Imo Griffin is too fragile to build a team around going forward.

Your hero actually DID crumble against a bad Syracuse squad in the Pinstripe Bowl.

Mariota was not the reason they lost and he hardly crumbled.

But yeah, you still want to play Geno.

Brady is the common thread--they've put crap around him for years and he turns it into chicken salad.

Don't you aspire to one day have a QB like that?

All the WRs and CBs and RBs and OTs and OLBs and TEs and Gs and FSs aren't going to make us perennial contenders.

    The QB can.

Geno isn't my hero, it just makes sense to give him one more year... Guy has had only two years in the NFL and people want him gone.... This is the year it should really start to slow down for him and he should take that next step if he has it in him.. He will have a less complicated offense this year with Chan, and Chan is known for getting the best out of what he has... Mariota is way too much of a question mark to be taking at #6..

If he plays like he did this year, I will be the first one calling for his head... But lets just give him one last shot.

I can't stand this kind of thinking. Let's take "less complicated offense", for starters. What is a less complicated offense? A predictable offense that opponents can plan and get ready for, and be prepared to stop. It's an offense that is set up more to cover over the Qb's limitations than to take advantage of weaknesses in the opponent's D. It is an offense that will score less points, hoping to win by limiting turnovers. It sounds like what the Jets have been trying to do on O for at least two years now, and really four. Or more depending on how you define it.

So, after going 4-12, we should hope for more of the same? Really?

I am sick of that kind of thinking.

As for Gailey, I am hopeful he will help. But the guy's been sitting on the couch for two years, and I don't think anybody tried to sign him. Looking for the next OC to somehow make much better use of Smith sounds like typical off season hyperbolic optimism to me.

Normally this would be an internet insult, but I'm glad you're NOT the GM of Washington :D

This is so wrong on so many accounts.

I don't want a QB that needs a simplified offense just to be below average, I want a QB that is fed a more and more complicated offense every year--a brilliant QB that Geno is not.

The window for a great QB prospect closes after this year for the foreseeable future.

In other words, lets take a flawed player and surround him with talent and dumb down the offense because one team won a SB with Trent Dilfer and one of the greatest defenses in NFL history.

    Sounds like a good model.

Yea you guys hit the nail right on the head... Lets not bring in an OC who runs the Spread which is what Geno ran in college and is most comfortable with.. Lets not give Geno the best opportunity to succeed.. Yup.

As long as we're building around a QB, lets do it with a QB worthy of being built around.

Geno is not a smart guy. Talented yes, but all the talent in the world cannot overcome stupid.

And you think Mariota would be a better fit than Geno?

come on stokes.. it's his 2nd year. most young QBs are stupid with a lot of talent. Andrew Luck still makes stupid ass passes, he just gets the luxury of throwing 50 times a game to bulk up his stats.

No, there are stupid mistakes and there is inherent stupidity.

Every QB will make a stupid mistake or mistakes.

    Geno isn't a smart guy.

Wait, do you think Luck is inherently stupid, but because he passes so much and has "bulked up stats" folks think he's smart?

You think Geno's footwork is bad?? Mariota's is horrendous.. If his first read is not available, forget about it he is running and with that frame he is going to have a short career with all the hits he is going to take. Was never asked to make NFL throws in college so we have no clue if he could.. All that dinking and dunking ain't gonna work in the big leagues. I would take him in the 2nd round in a heartbeat, I just don't think he is worthy of the #6 pick..

im 100% fine moving forward with Geno playing HIS style which is what Gailey is bringing here. We gave Sanchez all that time, giving Geno a 3rd chance wouldn't be awful, are we expecting a SB next year anyway? not really.. so we don't have much to lose. If this is my team.. i draft Mariota but start Geno from day 1. if he can't do it under a spread style offense that he's known to be comfortable in then we can try Mariota. If Geno can turn it around, we got chip kelly ready to do whatever it takes for his guy mariota. trade bait much?

This is funny. Mariota is a ballerina compared to Geno. Geno's first inclination is to back pedal, retreat, run sideways 20 yards behind the LOS then run out of bounds.
