Thank God the draft is in Chicago this year because if Mariota lasted to our 6th pick and the Jets passed on him (or traded out of the spot), the gallery would be worse than when they took Brady instead of Warren Sapp. The fans would burn the building down.
They were 2-14 .......Mettenberger started 6 games and lost every one of them....his stats were nothing that amazing ,he did have a good passer rating but I'm not sure that's enough for the Titans to not take a chance on Mariota ...They truly love him?He showed some good things but I don't see why they would pass on Mariota
They were an awful team. Don't just look at stats, the dude can play. He's a going to be a very good QB. _
Looking at his mock I can certainly see where it can happen but I can see someone jumping ahead of us for his services if he gets past the Titans.
As Mariota's possibly one of the greatest QB prospects we've seen in a long time (if ever), the Jets should definitely take him at 6. Hell, if it's not expensive to move up to get him at 2-5 AND the CS is sold, it's something that they should do.
i've been in here for years and have never clicked on any 'sub forum' yet. If the topic ain't juicy enough for the main forum, i don't have time for it.
mock drafts in February = shit to talk about, that's about it, but good enough for this time of year.
I still don't know how I would feel about drafting Mariota. Obviously QB is a huge need and that makes it worth gambling a bit more but not convinced he's the guy. Part of me hopes that he's just gone at that spot so it doesn't become an issue.
as much as everyone thinks we need to capitalize on this rare opportunity to grab a difference maker a #6, NE has drafted in the bottom 25-32 for the last 10 years and they're the best team on the planet. Maybe having a 'Tom Brady' means you never really need a high draft pick. Or maybe NE has figured out how to keep their team stocked and talented without drafting a 'difference maker' every year?
I'm trying to think what the common thread is for the Pats being dominant over the past decade. Hmmmm. _
IF Mariota fAlls to #6 we must take him! The only way we even consider moving out of that pick is for an absolute blockbuster overpayment. If the eagles want him as bad as people say I wouldn't settle for anything less than: 1st 2015 1st 2016 2nd 2015 2nd 2016 Nick Foles If the Browns are the team: 1st 2015 1st 2016 1st 2015 (Buffalo's pick) Otherwise we take him and move on.
Of course we are although "disappointment" is kind of relative to your level of mancrush. I think MM could probably do some damage with a spread offense but I'm not going to pretend that he doesn't have a bunch of question marks about his game. If the Jets don't take him at 6 if he's available I'm not going to pull my hair out like some people (hint) immediately will be.
I think you kind of answered your own question there. The Pats pick late in the draft because they have Brady. They don't have to draft a difference maker every year because they have one of the best in the league at the most important position in football. I think I just threw up in my mouth a little bit as I typed that last sentence out. We want to have our Brady, that's why some of us think we need to get Mariota. I would love to have Gregory or Cooper as well because I think both will be fantastic players but I want a QB. Not just any QB mind you, I want a good/great QB.
So if he is going to be so good and the Titans should not think about picking Mariota, would you support the Jets trading the 6th pick for Mett?
