Damn so angry, which I find extremely funny. Almost as funny as your retarded comparison to Vince Young. You know you got no argument when you default to spelling mistakes.
I certainly hope Bucky is correct. That means we snatch him up at 6 and get to see what type of player he becomes.
I'm not angry, it's a message board but when you have to constantly repeat yourself - then it kind of gets annoying after awhile. The "Mariotta" thing, was just a funny shot - don't take that to heart. If you think my comparison to VY was wrong - when I mention what VY does best in comparison to Mariota feel free to explain further.
I want Mariota to be OTC @ 6 just as much as you do. What I choose to do with the pick however might be different, if I get an offer that includes Foles, this yrs 1st, a 3rd and next yrs 1st - it would be hard to say no to that deal.
Thank god for this draft board that Kelly had Mariota in the past - if he hadn't we would not be able to speculate that someone is going to give up a ton of picks to get him (from the Jets). IF Kelly wanted Mariota and had the authority to orchestrate a deal, he would be trading ahead of the Jets to get him.
To state the obvious, I think when it's all well and done, it simply boils down to one thing and one thing only. That is, what exactly is the GM and CS in depth assessment of Mariota, period end of story. Everything else is fluff. If they feel after exhaustive evaluation that there is better than a 50-50 chance that he can become "The Guy" for this team, then the selection is a no brainier. If they are not sold on him, then and only then they will entertain a trade first, and if that does not materialize, it will be damned interesting to see if they still take a chance or go elsewhere. It will be a very telling story if they pass on MM. If MM is still on the clock when we select, it will be perhaps one of the most exiting and suspensful first round selections since God knows when for the Jets. It might forever erase from our memories the Gholston fiasco by selecting the next Rodgers or Breese.
To each his own. I just don't see why we would want 2 low(20 range, possibly lower) first round picks, a low 3rd rounder, and a QB coming off of a shaky season(and whose only productive season came in an offense that most agree is gimmicky).
I agree. I don't want to repeat myself too much, but I keep seeing a pattern where some posters here who in effect argue against the Jets making any effort to get a new Qb in here are doing so because they are Smith Fans. And yes, to be a Smith Fan, it helps to be a fool.
It's very simple, if MM is there for us at 6 you draft him and never look back. Geno stays right where he is as the Jets starter for the spring and at the start of TC in the summer. Then you bring in a seasoned vet Fitz or whoever and you have a real QB competition. Best QB starts second best is the backup and third hold the clipboard and is the opposing teams QB in practices. If someone wants MM ,say Philly, then depending on what is offered you would have to consider that trade. We have many holds to fill, so filling up on draft picks can only help our situation. It is my hope that before the draft, Chan will have a chance to study Geno tapes and get an idea of where we stand. Also Chan should have an opportunity to sit down and talk to Geno, and get to know him. I like many of you though Geno looked horrendous last year, and was ready to throw him out the door. Yet as bad as he was at times, he is still on his rookie, deal so keeping him cost us nothing. Unlike many of you I don't think the kid is dumb or stupid. Everything we have heard says the kid works hard at his craft and puts in the time, both on the field and in the classroom. So year three is make or break for him, franchise QB or lifetime backup, we will know this year.
Can mariota handle NY and being so far away from his family in Hawaii It's already know he is very family oriented and would take a lot of trips back home from Oregon
If he can't then he's a p.us.sy but I don't think this is true. On the dan patrick show, he said he rarely got to go home due to off season training and no money.
Ya I heard it on the Colin cowherd show wouldn't be suprised if it's bullshit I wouldn't see it as a big deal anyway he will have money for them to come visit him
Of course not, but the comparisons are outlandish. If you want to convince people that a specific QB is a can't miss prospect you have to do better then that.
Who is trying to convince people that MM is a can't miss prospect? I think you may be fabricating an outlandish position to argue against.
