I could see Gabbert for Tebow Straight up trade. Get Gabbert to learn behind Manning for couple years and Tebow and Henne can duke it out for starter.
Tebow only makes $2 million and change a year, which would make him very attractive to teams like Miami and Jacksonville. Even if they have to restructure him, you don't see many starting QBs making that little money these days.
Don't underestimate the power of Tim teebo's draw espically in Flordia. That goes even more so for a team that has a hard time getting fans in the seats. People will show up to see him for awhile and that may be enough for the Jags. Trade for Teebo, perhaps making Gabbert one of the Peices to learn under Manning. Thats a huge win for a troubled franchise.
What game were you watching? 12-26 for 196yds vs 32-58 for 316yds. And even at that Smith was 9-23 for 84yds besides the 3 long plays Davis made for him. He was throwing the ball into the ground the whole 2nd half, and completed 1 pass for 3 yards to his WRs. The only two games opposing defenses got some pressure on him (Giants, Ravens) he looked below pedestrian.
That would be a great trade for Denver. Because I think they're gonna have a hard time getting anything for Tebow.
I'm kinda surprised Denver wouldn't keep Tebow and Manning. Sure, they could get a lot by trading Tebow but an offense with a real QB and a HB that could also (kinda) throw could make for an extremely challenging offense full of option plays and deception. What defense is prepared to play two QBs at once? You could also sit Tebow as QB on some downs to give Manning a chance to get off the field and limit his opportunities for injury. However, I suspect Manning would not be into an offense like that. All that said, I'm full of lolz about Tebow getting the boot.
I was watching the game, not looking at a boxscore. 300+ yds sounds nice but Eli didn't move the ball at all in the 2nd half and OT, he only led his team to scores when SF fumbled in their territory twice. Manning threw it FIFTY EIGHT times, he had all the good fortune in this game where he threw 2 horrible passes that would ahve been picked off if 2 SF DBs didn't collide on each play, he fumbled and was lucky to have his O recover it and he got2 TOs deep in SF territory to set up their only scores of the 2nd half/OT. Eli had a 5.4 YPA, Smith 7.5 SF scoring drives: started at SF 27, SF 46 and SF 45 NYG scoring drives: started at NYG 35, NYG 36, SF 29, SF 24
I doubt they can get alot for Tebow. The Jags and maybe the Phins are the only two options if he's gonna stay at QB. The best they could hope for would be the trade suggested by others on this thread. Gabbert for Tebow. Jags get a gate attraction, and Gabbert gets to learn under Peyton, though Manning wasn't much of a mentor in Indy, preferring to get all the reps during the week to prepare for games.
That means that the 49ers scored on a short field twice, and on a 71 yd td to Davis because the Giants somehow forgot to cover him. I guess we can agree to disagree on Mr Smith. I'm not that impressed with him. I'll leave it at that.
I really don't care where he wound up. He was a great qb. He's not gonna come right in anywhere and bring instant success. My prediction is all theyll get out of this before he retires is a slightly above .500 season and ticket sales.
Wow, kind of shocked... I really thought it was going to be Tennessee. Not really buying the "Tebow to the Patriots" rumors, but stranger things have happened. I just can't see them paying QB money to a guy whose role would be more of a fullback or H-back.
If the Pats traded for Tebow, they'd probably dump Mallett. Then we'd have more entertainment as all those "gurus" who insisted that the Pats got the "steal of the draft" in Mallett commit "cyber suicide".
Any team interested in making money over making plays could have an interest in Tebow above what his playing ability commands. While I would agree he won't command the kind of deal Manning is going to get, it's probably going to be better than what any other $2 million player could get. Most of all I'm just glad this takes the Tebow = God nonsense down a peg.
Someone actually posted a link to a Boston.com article stating that Clayton is pegging the Pats as a possible trade partner. Another team (likely one in Florida) will give up a lot more for him than NE will, so it doesn't make sense anyway. I'd rather see them not get involved in the Tebow circus.
I don't get why he would go there. Sure it's in the AFC, but he'll always have Elway's legacy hanging over him, and there's really not much offensive talent around him. He passed on the chance to play with Larry Fitzgerald and Beanie Wells; Randy Moss, Vernon Davis, and Frank Gore; Chris Johnson and Kenny Britt; and even Reggie Bush and Brandon Marshall (before he was traded) to play with Eric Decker, Demetrius Thomas, and Willis McGahee. Maybe he wants to prove he didn't need all that offensive talent around him, like he had in Indy, to win, since Brady often had poor RBs/WRs around him.
