You guys are bi-polar....wasn't it only last year that everyone was so happy that Mangini is the Anti-Herm when it comes to press conferences? Now all of a sudden he doesnt say enough and hes boring? Jesus, when the Jets start losing the sky really does fall....
why is everyone so concerned about his stage presence at press conferences all of a sudden? I'd rather he say nothing, why give your opponents any free information? Make them work for it by studying illegal game films.
amen, just like parcells doesnt like celebrity qb's, i dont want a celebrity coach, he should just shut his mouth, and get his players ready to play, although i dont like how he wants to take the "same approach every week" bc it is obviously not working to well, maybe he should just completely go apeshit on the players, maybe that will light a fire, or make a qb change...na that is way too logical
Yes, he's boring, and disingenuous. I never listened to Edwards' pressers after the first season cuz i couldnt stand listening to him. Listening to mangini is like watching primer dry- worse than paint. Call me when he says something interesting. And BTW, I heart listening to parcells' pressers. I guess that spoiled me as far as the clowns who followed him. You see, i still look at my passion for the Jets, the NFL and sports in general as ENTERTAINMENT. Mangini is unentertaining, imo.
The best part of the Parcells pressers was trying to figure out which clueless beat reporter he was about to savage after a stupid question. I thought Parcells was about as entertaining as watching the Jets win, albeit a nasty SOB at times. I had no problem with Mangini being unentertaining last season. I have a big problem with the Jets being unentertaining this season. Mangini better find a clown outfit and pick up some one-liners if the Jets keep losing because he won't be worth anything otherwise.
Yeah, Parcells had an edge to him, and I like that. So did Don Rickles, Billy Martin, Giuliani (when he was the mayor), Johnny carson and a bunch of other celebs who are interesting and have a wry sense of humor. Last season was a novelty, as the first season always is for the new guy. And though the Jets are losing, I'd appreciate a LITTLE more candor/insight from him instead of the drab, canned, say-nothing spiel he pulls out.
"I tell ya, I don't get no respect....Everytime I try to talk to Tannenbaum about a getting a Quarterback, he tells me there's a 25 percent sale at the dollar store...."
:rofl2: I couldn't have said that any better myself, people are just picking meaningless crap to bitch about
Then we're all in agreement! It makes no sense to listen to any of the press conferences and even less sense to report what was said to the board!
Just how sexually promiscuous were you about 14 years ago, Jetcane? Hahahahahahahhaaaa.... (just kiddding, Jetzz, just kidding)!
Who cares if he is unentertaining...Did we hire Mangini to do a little song and dance at every Press Conference, or did we get him to win? I think its a little coincidental that everytime the Jets lose, he isnt saying enough, or he doesnt have the answers we want to hear. However when we win, this board is flooded with approval that Mangini isnt saying much about the games, and not allowing any opponents to know what he is thinking..
That's a strawman argument. This thread is more about his press conference abilities than his coaching abilities. As long as he continues to give press conferences and post games, they are subject to being critqued. Getting some info as a fan, and being interested in what the HC has to say are part of the fan experience. And maybe he will be judged a little more favorably when his football team is more entertaining to watch.
