We were always conservative late in games. All we did was play zones when we should've played man-to-man. They would throw all over us late in games. It wasn't just late in the year, it was all year.
I must say..that I seldom ever agree with you, but I totally agree with this. Thats y I also believe that Mangini was fired. He didn't wanna playball & keep drinking the Brett Kool-Aid !!!
Don't be so happy to make excuses for Mangini, people. He never wanted Favre? Then why are players telling the Daily News that he treated him with kid gloves and refused to criticize him for anything? Why did he name his freaking son after him??
You make a good point kinghenry about naming his kid Brett...but liking someone as a person doesn't mean you want to actually work with them. I'm sure Mangini, like anyone who's watched football in the past 15+ years had an immense respect for Brett Favre. Still, Mangini also seems like a logical kind of guy, and a logical guy is going to be wary about bringing in a 39 year old QB a month before the season starts. Sucks he's the fall guy for the whole situation...team should be better next year...Favre will probably be better if he comes back...Mangini will get over it and be a damn good HC...and the Jets fans will find something or someone new to want to fire.
Maybe Mangini didn't want Favre, but Tannenbaum was crazy about Favre. When they signed Favre and Tanny spoke of it on the radio he would get so excited he was hyperventilating. Kept going on at a mile a minute about how this was just like getting Testaverde in '98. Anyone who thinks Tanny didn't LUST for Favre never heard the man speak on the subject, Tanny would have traded a nut for Favre.
