Too late, he's uttered the "I saw a lot of good things out there." This is new ground for him and he's handling it in a... different manner.
That's It... Fire Mangini chad gonna play all 16 games... won't find out what he has in clemens... nothing to look forward to
Good point about Tomlin. Pitt would have been royally screwed trying to run the Tampa 2... I think we might as well finish building the 3-4 this offseason because we're a couple pieces away from being a solid unit. The defense is atleast getting better. Right now I just want Chad exiled, that's it.
Sorry, WB, but I don't agree with that at all. There were at least 4 or 5 plays when McNabb had to burn it in to the receiver to make a play, and he did it without a problem. Before this game my biggest complaint about Mangini was his bizarre refusal to bench Pennington, but after a game like this you have to wonder if the fish stinks from the head down. It is precisely that the OL and D have been playing better, yet the team continues to lose, that is the problem, whether that is because Pennington is awful but is not replaced, or that the playcalling at the crucial moment of the game was about as horrible as it could possibly be.
Clemens is clearly the most glaring. as you said, the rest of the team is improving and yet the QB position continues to hinder this team, and what is Mangini's decision -- stick with the QB. that sure seems like a problem with the coach to me.
WB, you know I respect your opinion, but you are reaching here. The only excuse for not replacing Chad at this point would be if Mangini had concluded that Clemens cannot play in the NFL. If that's the case there's no reason to have him on the roster. There are no excuses for what is going on right now. Chad is no longer an NFL starting caliber QB. 99% of us who watch the games know that. Mangini sticking with Chad at this point does not reflect on Clemens, who HAS to be better than Chad at this point, it reflects on Mangini and his inability to make a necessary change. I believe Mangini will be fired at the end of the season. Possibly sooner.
Pennington is done, it's clear as a bell, it has been for weeks and I thought so during preseason. Mangini is going to be judged on how Clemens performs not on how much the team sucks with Chad. Bringing Clemens up to speed as an NFL QB is the only thing that matters. If Mangini wants to wait until the bye to give him two weeks to prepare, I'm fine with that. Mangini has brought a lot to this team allready. Two good drafts, a great off season conditioning program, descipline and goals. I'm willing to give him a pass until I see the next QB worked in and Mangini's team on the field.
Wow.. Going out on a limb there.. It's the same scheme they run in NE, from what I can see.. You need the players to fit that scheme..
Well said There are a LOT of holes in this team. They've done an awful job adjusting from Year 1 to Year 2. It's one thing to lose to the Pats, which would have still happened last year. We would beat the mediocre teams last year (Giants, Eagles, Bills). This year, I'm not confident at all.
but what if the Jets do play well right away under Clemens, but the season has already been lost because the Jets are saddled with 4 losses under Chad. that reflects on Mangini solely for playing Chad. the Jets didn't come into this season just hoping for a strong finish, and if the team's early season woes are a direct result of the coach, why keep him? because if he makes bad decisions that cost the team this season, more than likely he will continue to do so.
Relax, guys. Mangini is just being Mangini. He's not going to just announce that Chad won't start next week right off the bat. This team has so many issues right now.
Mangini is not the problem for the jets, its pennington! granted hes amazing for being able to do wat he does by using touch passes but its not working the offense needs more explosion and big plays, clemens can make all the throws with accuracy and he can make things happen by opening the offense up with the deep ball once u establish that u can throw the ball downfield it opens up the running game back on topic w/o mangini last year the jets would of had the same outcome as this year but we got a few more breaks last year
At this point,i can't see what else could be the problem. Yeah,Chad is very limited so our offense is offensive. But There are SO MANY mistakes like bad coverage, horrible tackling. Has Mangini lost this team?
1 play... the tackling improved in the 2nd half... you can blame the coverage but if you tell me, the defense would allow only 1 TD in the first drive and not allow any after, i'd sign up for that...
u cant just replace a qb cuz of a few loses, u have to give pennington a chance to redeem himself now u can put clemens in
I agree, you can't replace a QB after a few losses. You can, however, replace a QB if he's clearly not getting it done. Pennington really hasn't gotten it done all year. The last few games were just way more obvious then most.
