I remember leading up to the game between the Giants and Jets last year, I was afraid that the Jets would win because Mangini would do something crafty and outfox Coughlin. As the game drew closer that fear faded because Mangini did not look like his 2006 version. Today I can see him on the sideline and almost wonder how I was ever afraid of his coaching prowess. I am not saying this to antagonize anyone, I am just offering an outsider's perspective. Mangini isn't nearly as creative and innovative as he once was.
Mangini press conference running right now at the Jets website. I think I may have just heard him come a hair shy of saying that they were looking for a replacement for Ben Graham.
He has problems with the offensive pass interference call. "That's one that we'll send in and get comments on, and try to learn from it. Heck of a throw; heck of a catch."
Too bad he's not looking for a replacement for the "BS" brothers... That would be Sutton and Shotts..
He keeps getting his ass kicked by his mentor. Tells me that being "Belichek Lite" just isn't getting it done for Mangina and he might try something different..
He's getting good at at least having answers when things go wrong. He had a lot of practice last year in that regard and he still looked confused and clueless as to what was going wrong at a lot ofd the press conferences. He may be on the Jim Mora progression here: confident to clueless to smoothly covering up.
On the three running plays: I believe the in offensive line. I believe in the running backs. . . Try to learn from this experience. . . . move on the San Diego. Need to take away the positive, and blah blah blah effing blah. . .
He seemed to have a few. If I remember right (paraphrasing): "Thought we ran the ball pretty well." "Thought we did pretty well on third down - 50%" "Thought holding Randy Moss to two catches was pretty good." And then I think he said something about pizza, but I can't be sure.
I wish we had the staff the Giants has. Top to bottom as good as it gets in this league. Our OC and DC aren't in the same league.
Your absolutely correct, we have second rate coordinators and a head coach who doesnt have the experience to realize they suck.
He's great at talking about nothing for 20 minutes. He really should run for Public Office. The truth is he was given a lesson yesterday by his teacher on how to prepare a football team to play! Mangini needs to look in the mirror and be is own man and not a half ass clown clone of Belichek
I just don't understand the game plan. The Pats secondary is suspect. You have Brett Favre while they have Matt Cassel! Air it out and try to force the Pats to put the game on Cassel, why would you handcuff your own offense with conservative play-calling? I honestly don't understand it. There really is no excuse for this one, the Jets had way too much going in their favor to lose this game, yet they did. I don't get it.
