#1. Let's face it, this is a brutal place to coach. The Jets franchise certainly appears to be cursed and has ruined many coaching careers. #2. With Tannenbaum still in place, Woody would not be able to offer personnel control, something that a coach of Cowher's stature would probably demand. #3 Lots of speculation swirling about the Browns. Can't think of why that would be a better spot than NY however, it just underscores the fact that the Jets are not the only team seeking a HC and Cowher will have the luxury of picking his spot despite the fact that we as fans have tunnel vision on the issue.
I disagree. The team still needs someone to handle contracts and to work with other GMs around the league. There is nothing saying someone like Cowher can't just say "get me such and such players".
I don't think Cowher will come here- he's gonna ask for 8-10 million a year according to Mort. Also, I just love how Mangina said yesterday in his presser that the evaluation process started today for next season. Mangini got evaluated out of a job too.
Evan Roberts said Gruden might be fired later today, and that's the guy the Jets should begin speaking to immediately. Picture Chucky, with his lip curled, glaring at Bryan Thomas lol.
1. No coach is going to turn down an opportunity because of a "curse" or because of a perceived brutal job. They're going to go in and try to change the complexion of the organization like Parcells did when he first came here. 2. There is plenty for Tanny to do without being the one who selects the player personnel and draft picks. 3. True, Cleveland can be a destination, but so can any other team that is losing their coach. The Jets offer: -Money... lots of money. -A roster that is built to win. -3-4 ready defense. -An owner who just wants results. I'd say we have a lot to offer someone like Cowher.
I agree. No coach like Cowher wants a team like the Jets. Who are dead set on Brett as QB in 2009. They see the mess developing. Things are blowing up in a team's face that has to sell PSLs. I still wonder behind the scenes, who dictated that Brett come...
OK I haven't been to the site in some time but I seen the Press conference and Had to see what you folks were up to... now a couple of thoughts.. Parcells: Not gonna happen I think he will be treated like a God in Miami after turning that team around in his first year. Farve: MRI will show something and he will finally hang them up. New Coach: will be somebody that will for sure keep this group from agreeing on and will keep the coach threads very active. New QB: I know you won't like this but has anyone given any thought about Matt Cassel .. That might not be a bad fit (I know he is a Pat but he needs a Job and he was trained by a pretty good QB trainer)
Hellllls NO!!! You think players didn't like playing for Mangini, Chucky is 10x worse. He is a sociopath dickhead of the first order. Couldn't give a shit about his players, and won't ever take the time to develop a young QB. Next.
Agreed The one area that Herm excelled was that players would run through a wall for the genius. I want a coach that players respect and play for who also knows a little about Xs and Os (and clock management)
Hey, don't shoot the messenger. I don't want Gruden; I just thought it'd be funny watching him chew out someone like Bryan Thomas.
