Raiders D sucked the last 2 years, who cares if he got Rob Ryan. Hopefully we will get the better Ryan
Win or lose (vs the titans), Baltimore has allowed the Jets to interview Rex sometime next week. BTW, I believe the Ravens are going to beat Tennessee.
Not really. He just drones on like an emotionless, gum chewing robot. On and on and on. Kind of like the Jets search for that coach who can win them a Super Bowl in a matter of minutes.
Im glad he got the job, hes a good coach. Two winning seasons in three years of being a head coach, can't ask for much better.
Well, consider this. While Randy Moss, formerly one of the best WR in the league languished in Oakland, many football fans came to the conclusion that he was a star that peaked early and would never be again. Then he went to the Patriots... and the star shone bright once more. Oakland is a tar/shit pit quagmire that good people get sucked into and everything appears bleak as hell. Then they leave... and the sun shines again. I wouldn't be surprised to see Ryan lead a defense with far more bite than the Raiders have had since he was there. They don't call Oakland the black hole for nothing you know.
shit..... mangini + ryan + daboll = a pretty good trio folks...... likely better than anything woody is going to assemble for his club. jil
SHIT I think he is going to go back to calling a more aggressive defense and watch the two be very successful in Cleveland.
This does not involve the Jets at all. Perhaps the Jets can think about the Browns during playoffs time next year, but they are currently not on our schedule.
i feel bad for cleveland, idk what you guys were smoking the last five weeks of mangini, and this whole season...HE DOESNT EVEN KNOW ONE OF THE MOST IMPORTANT FOOTBALL COACHING BASIC,HALFTIME ADJUSTMENTS!!!it doesnt take more than the seattle game to tell hes a horrid hc who played not to lose
I think Mangini will do well and I wish him the best. So now Cleveland has a respectable head coach, a promising young QB, and a promising DC out of Joakland. We have.. no head coach, a QB controversy involving Queen Favre, and a lame-duck DC. I really hope things start to shape up.
Mangini was the one calling the plays which were designed not to pressure the QB. The players cannot rush the QB if the play doesn't call for it. They have to keep their assignments. So it was Mangini's fault that there was no pass rush. The first two seasons he took over and turned the defense around he had DRob as the NT and not Kris Jenkins so we can't say that the defense tanked because Jenkins tired. What probably happened is that the coaches from the opposing team figured out what he was doing the first two years and they had answers for it. And one of the biggest criticisms of Mangini was that he never made any adjustments. He thought the same game plan would always work.
C'mon, congrats to Eric Mangini. Just wait...Browns in the playoffs 2009....Browns in AFC Chanpionship Game 2010. You know it's gonna happen.
Mangini could become a good HC for Cleveland or another franchise but it's not guaranteed at this point. Mangini made a number of dumb moves while he was with the Jets. His mishandling of the Kendall situation & the subsequent replacement with Adrien Clarke pretty much destroyed the OL and much of the 2007 season. And that whole stoic, don't show any emotion thing got pretty old quickly. Every time Brett threw an interception, I wanted to slap Mangini for the stupid, smug look he'd get on his face. Finally I think Eric's youth and relative inexperience turned into much more of a problem when the Jets became a veteran team in 2008. Mangini does much better when the team is a bunch of scared rookies. But Eric did do some very positive things for this franchise. I think his emphasis on smarts and character was a very good idea. And that he most wanted guys who loved football. You get enough players on the team like that and you're almost guaranteed to win more than you lose. All in all if Eric can learn from his mistakes he could become a solid coach. But if he revives his gum chewing, emotionless persona, I think he'll struggle in Cleveland. Players want to be led by a man not a robot. And he's got to do a much better job with his adjustments, both within games and during the season.
