Good thread by the OP. The head slapping and overall attitude on that drive was infectious. The team responded and I think this drive/LT changed the game.
The last year with the Chargers LT became the whipping boy and he kept his mouth shut and everything bottled up. I bet he's got enough bottled up to continue till the completion of the season. Add to that a dislike of the Patriots and the opportunity given to him by the Jets with the proper utilization of his talents. He's happy, the coaches, players and fans are responding and he's loving football again.
I wasn't really "skeptical" when we signed him, but I was keeping in the back of my mind that we weren't getting the old LT. We still aren't, but right now he's doing more than I could've imagined. Going into the season I had a thought that I generally kept to myself after the preseason, and it was that I thought LT would reach 1,000 yards this season before Greene, if Greene even does so. I'm going to stick with that. Dude is rejuvenated. Playing with crazy motivation, emotion, and hates New England. Can't wait until Week 13. He's going to wanna stick it to them bad in their own house. My favorite part? He WANTS to be a Jet. You can tell. He loves it here. He loves Rex. I think he feels like he is more wanted here since SD kicked him out the door. I just hope that if we make it to the playoffs we get the Chargers. I'd fucking love to see him do a ballflip into someones face. Welcome aboard, LT. I only wish it was sooner.
One of my favorite plays yesterday ... a pass play where Sanchez is running for his life ... he gets right to the LOS and looks like he's about to run for it, or maybe slide ... but then he catches a glimpse of LT a couple of yards ahead and to his right, and kind of shuffles him the ball for some good positive yardage. That wouldn't have happened last year. A great play by Sanchez ... and having LT as a safety valve is gonna be gold for us.
