"...me and him don't got no problems" A double negative! Bell is trying to tell us that he and Gase don't have no problems meaning they have at least one problem!
I don't know if there is any evidence that Bell likes Gase rather I suspect Bell is making the best of a bad situation and being professional. Bell is aware of Gase's comments after he was signed, is aware of how poorly he was used by Gase and is aware of how Gase used his burner account to relentlessly attack him on social media but rather than escalating things he has taken the high road and been a professional and team player. Attacking Gase is not going to help Bell's cause.
The biggest negative on Gase so far is that so many of the Dolphin offensive players broke out after he was gone or they were gone. Tannehill, Drake, DeVante Parker, even Damien Willliams to an extent. Three of them made big impacts for other teams, one for another coach.
No one said Bell has to "like" Gase. There just needs to be mutual respect between the two, which based on Bell's comments, there clearly is. It's people like you that constantly look for the negative or try and look between the lines to find something negative when maybe there isn't. So far a few players have already came out defending Gase and the locker room's view on him. The only people reporting a tension are beat writers like Mehta. I choose to believe the players.
Bell is such a great locker room guy, we better not cut him after this season. IMO he should have that C on his jersey should the NFL resume this year.
Me too I pick the players. Gase has not gotten along with them wherever he has gone. He attacked the players last year in a press conference throwing them under the bus and blaming them while refusing to take responsibility. Gase because of he is so insecure will never take responsibility for his shortcomings. It is always someone elses fault. That is why he is not qualified to be a leader of men and why he has such difficulty getting along with others. He caused drama and started unneeded fights with Oso and other injured players. Gase is his own worst enemy. A smart guy with an overwhelming need to prove to others how smart he is resulting in the petty insecure and dishonest person that he is. His insecurities will constantly put him out of a job.
NFL Gazette: The year, 2030. Headlines: "Debate rages: Jets decade of success Gase or Darnold???" Our staff writers chip in with in depth analysis.
Unnecessary fights with Osemele? A guy they signed on a decent deal but claimed to be injured and had no interest in playing, just in getting his cash. Me first not team first. I don't know how much of this was due to Gase, I hope it was mostly Douglas really, but if Gase was a major part of it I have no issues.
It's funny because if you really look into the instances that Gase was called out for his "antics" or being an asshole, it all comes from players that were traded or that were or are seeking bigger deals and are not getting those said deals. Guys like Ryan Tannehill, Peyton Manning, Nick Saban, Mike Martz, John Elway, John Fox, Le'Veon Bell, Sam Darnold, Joe Douglas, Alex Lewis, all praised Gase and his ability as a coach. But yet somehow guys like Jarvis Landry, who was traded to the Browns, Jamal Adams, who is throwing a temper tantrum because he's not being paid more, and Jordan Phillips, who was cut by the Dolphins, have pushed the narrative that Gase is a problem. Facts are a thing of the past in this day and age.
Being a complicated offense sheds a lot of light on the struggles of this offense early. You want to kill Sam's development, put him in yet another offense. What does worry me though is with the scaled back off season and a lot of new faces , is the offense to complicated? Most of today's offenses are very scaled back.
EvErY pLaYeR hAtEs GaSe. In reality people need to realize that every football coach isn't Mr. Nice Guy. And that's OK. Two of the best coaches I ever had in my life were the biggest dickheads. They got the most out of me though. The new generation of professional athlete is slowly starting to struggle with the idea that they are great because they made it to the NFL but not great enough to not be coached. They resent that because they've been told otherwise their entire life. I don't think that's necessarily Bell's problem but he's certainly a me-first player. But everyone needs to lay off Gase. He's a dickhead. That's OK. He needs to produce and he can keep being a dickhead and giving Mehta an attitude and shitty press conference answers. If he doesn't produce, he's gone and good riddance.
Yeah, I don't buy that one either. Yet at least. See how those players do in 2020 and how Gase does in 2020 for more evidence. Like if Robby Anderson becomes a Top 5 WR in the NFL and the Jets offense continues to struggle, Bell continues to look bad, and Ty Montgomery makes amazing plays for the Saints, then you can say it looks like Gase is not using his players properly.
I was giving Gase shit in the beginning of the season when is scripted plays sucked. Then they started scoring on almost every opening drive. That tells me the plays are well designed. This is a complicated offense and takes time to learn. Bell, is not typical back. He requires his lineman to hold their blocks as he looks for daylight. It takes time for a line to adjust to a back like that. What I did not like how they used Bell is in the passing game.
I don't think this was worthy of it's own thread and I didn't really know where else to put it... but since we're talking about the offense this seems like a decent place. All of us should be following this account. It's all-22 footage with mini breakdowns. He's got a massive thread on Darnold and will be finishing up threads on Mims and Bell shortly. https://twitter.com/JetsTape?s=20
Not for nothing, but that has been the case in Miami for long before Gase was there. I live down here. There is a long running joke that players leave Miami and become studs elsewhere. That goes as far back as the days when Wes Welker was in Miami. Blaming any of that on Gase just isn't accurate
In the main I agree but who do you blame for running a draw run on 3rd and a million and not just the once either. There was some horrendous play calling it surely can't be denied but yes it will be interesting to see what transpires this season with everything improved for us bar a true WR1 in place. What would you class as success or indeed failure for Gase this year, it does look a tough schedule and covid19 is still running amok?
