Let me create a dumb thread because I have nothing worth discussing that might add to this site. Move the jets from the biggest market in the world with a new stadium paid for by some of my dumb fans and go to another country. Brilliant post.
Never happening. Even in all of their awfulness, the Jets are a hella valuable franchise, relatively speaking. In general, I don't see any major NY sports team leaving the city in the modern era.
Whoever thinks this can ever happen needs to be locked inside an asylum and that asylum should be thrown into the ocean and that ocean should be sealed and poisoned.
There is a huge number of Jets fans in the UK. Remember they were an exciting team in the mid-80s when the NFL exploded over here. The 51-45 Dolphins game in 1986 spawned thousands of new Jets fans. I was at the Wembley game a couple of years ago and there were large sections of the crowd in Jets jerseys. I still hate the idea of my team moving.
A huge number in a pub or a stadium full of fans? Because I saw alot of empty seats there when the Jets played the Dolphins.
Did U take a census of exactly how many NYJs fans there are in the UK. I would suspect maybe 5,000 would be the top if you conduct a accurate poll to determine the exact # of NYJs fan actually exist in England
R U aware the NYJs only played in NY when they played as the Titans at the Polo Grounds & then as the NYJs @ Shea. We have now played in NJ far longer then ever played in NY state FYI
Yes I did. I got official papers printed up with the help of government funding (because they were just itching to know), then I paid a company to deliver a form to every household in the UK, which cost me an absolute fortune I can tell you, because the government wouldn't fund that. Then I employed a couple of hundred people (minimum wage, so no biggie) to collate the data from the responses and it turned out that there are 143 million Jets fans in the UK (and it's not just England, Champ). This pissed me off because it is clear that either some of the forms were filled in inaccurately, some households received more than one form, or my hired form-checkers were incompetent. I am currently applying for reimbursement of the £120,000 this whole thing cost me. But I stand by my general theory. And there were more than 5,000 people in Jets shirts at Wembley stadium. So there's that.
So when U cut thru all if your BS U really do not know if U R the only NYJ fan or 1 of 2 or 1 of 3 now do U ?
The tarps that you see on the sidelines are there because the stadium was built for soccer not football. There would be extremely restricted views from those seats for football so they never sell them. The new Spurs stadium, which would be the likely home of any UK franchise if it ever happens, is being built with retractable pitches which allows it to be used for both sports, but it is smaller. Doesn't change the fact that a UK team is logistically difficult and it would be a crazy move for a franchise that is valued as much as the Jets despite struggling on the field.
Champ, based on nothing but your sketchy idea of where the UK/England is, and how likely it is that anybody over here watches the NFL, you felt confident to suggest that there are probably no more than 5,000 Jets fans in the UK. Having been a Jets fan in the UK since 1984, and having seen thousands of fans in Jets jerseys at a game two years ago, I claimed that there are thousands of Jets fans in the UK. And you accuse ME of BS?
Why are you so angry about it btw ? little all over the place. But I can answer your how do you know if U R the only NYJ fan or 1 of 3 He is 1 and I am 2 plus all the other UK people in this thread making more than 3 at least on this board
It would never happen.....If London gets a team it would be a new franchise entirely. The London Bulldogs was rumored to be the name they would go with. The league isn't moving a team out of NY.
