Players get bad advice from their agents all the time...its their job to be smooth talkers, you can't totally fault Leon for believing in the guy he hired to get him money... but yeah, soon it will be ex-agent
Sorry didn't realize there was another thread on this just pretty fucking upset on this... Leader of defense Kris Jenkins out (leader on field, and off in my opinion) A leader on offense Leon Washington (one of a few on O..off and on in my opinion as well)
I know, it sucks. But I dont think his family will miss any meals in the meantime so it is all good.
Relax people...it's a broken bone. They heal up just fine, if not better. It's not like its ligament damage...jeez!
Makes the Jets decision regarding Leon next season interesting to say the least. They'll tender him I guess, but I'm not sure how they'll do it. If they give him a cheap tender somebody is going to snap him up fairly cheaply. If they give him a high tender then he plays for the high tender. My guess is that's what they do. Then they have next year to evaluate whether or not to sign him long term.
Tough break for Washington - Greene looked good but he was always (to my mind) our eventual Jones replacement, not really a Washington type player. We seem to have had a really bad run of injuries this season
Jets made Leon a great offer. Its his own fault, his agents second. They offered him 5 1/2 per and he wanted 6. Tannenbaum has nothing to feel bad about. Great guy, maybe the 5th or 6th most valuable player on the team. Hope he's OK and like new next year.
You are correct....this is NOT good. The Game Day thread said that the bone was sticking out of his skin, and therefore he has to stay in Oakland and get the surgery done right away. It makes me sick to even envision it....his priority right now, is that his leg is not infected from the filty football field and that he will be up walking straight again. We are pulling for you Leon...get well quick!!!!
No doubt about it. I thought a lineman was down when it happened, so I was slightly relieved when I saw it was Leon. I know that sounds bad, but lineman are precious. We have RB depth, even more than I thought.
Damn, this was my thought when he couldn't walk off the field and needed to be carted off. In the back of my mind, I was hoping that it wasn't as serious, but I figured he was out for the year. I really, really hope that was not the last of Leon in green and white.
Much rather it be a break than a torn ligament. He should heal just fine. As far as his contract, I'm sure the contract the Jets have offerred will still be on the table, he just won't get more than that. Get healthy Leon!
Leon will be back stronger then ever next year and we'll see our new running back tandem. Greene and LW.
