I've bene crabby all day since someone mentioned Devon Smith on this thread. He really pissed me off.
-Kyle Wilson, Always in the trail position and zero awareness. -Dee Milliner, walking piece of glass -Quinton Coples , all the physical tools...fucking lazy player
These top draft picks are millionaires without ever having to play a down as a pro. It's no wonder so many of that just put their feet up and tank it for a couple of years before dropping the game entirely. Perhaps the most important element in becoming an elite athlete is the willingness to put in an unbelievable level of work and commitment. Once you've made it, once you have those millions, it's no surprise a big portion of those first-rounders disappoint. They got what they put the work in for. They put the effort in at high school and college. They've made the sacrifices and got their reward. It's over for them.
Probably not politically correct to say, but I never liked Dennis Byrd before the tragic injury. Of course his story is inspiring and I do not feel that way about him now. Number 1 had to be Gastineau, just a plain ole jerk no matter how many sacks he had. It’s easy to name a bunch of guys who sucked, but these 2 come to mind as guys who were starters and productive who I did not care for.
I don't mind a player who thinks he's great and is, like Mawae, Keyshawn, Adams, Favre, etc. You can't win in this league with all choirboys. I don't dislike a player who sucks and knows he sucks like Ashtyn Davis (he must know he sucks) and just about 3/4 of the Jets roster in the last 5 years. We all like the player who is good and humble like Martin and Chrebet. The kind of player I don't like is the guy who thinks he's great but really sucks and for me that player is Darron Lee.
Mark Gasteneau. As talented as he was, he was also a me first self aggrandizing douche bag who quit on the team when they needed him most. As well as being a wife beater.
