any vet qb's we could bring in to mentor sanchez in years 2 and 3?

i would love it if we brought penny back into the fold. plus if sanchez comes down with emphyzema, chad wouldn't do too bad in our ball control offense for a game or 3. chad was a great play action guy.

if penny came back, that would open up 2 roster spots.

Who wants to give something up for him?

Footballgod...the QB mentor thing is overrated. We've got several guys getting paid to develop him, and Cavanaugh is a recently retired NFL backup himself. I'd try to find a good, cheap backup, but I also wouldn't mind if no one offered anything for Clemens and he was the backup in 2010 again. Or Ainge is the backup...Either way I think the whole QB mentor thing is overblown nowadays.

I think he means that we would get rid of O'Connell and Clemens. Which would open 2 roster spots, but one would be filled by Pennington. So it would only be one roster spot. But he could be talking about something else cause it really doesn't make sense

If Nelson gets cut, I wouldn't mind signing him and trading Kerry for as much as we can get (a 3rd/4th??)

Jags fans feel about Nelson the way we feel about Rhodes...but I don't think this is a bad idea. Nelson was drafted as a ball hawker, and personally I think everyone is way too trigger happy with the B word nowadays. Everything's a bust.

I wouldn't want Martellus Bennett. He was a lot of preseason hype, but he couldn't deliver in the regular season. He had 15 receptions, and probably just as many drops - it seemed like every time I saw his number, he was dropping a pass. Plus, he isn't a very good blocker, and he has trouble getting separation.
