your right, after going back and forth with you i do need a drink. LOL

usually, most of the time, i come to this board when i need a good laugh. like reading some of the posters idea's of trading clemens and thomas and some other hack for jay cutler. you've got to admit, it can get rather hysterical with the bone headed idea's that come out here. definitely worth a half hour a day or so for a few chuckles.

i do not come here to go back and forth with the likes of guys like you. you can get under someones skin quite easily and do it well, because you seem to know what your talking about for the most part. we don't always agree, but who does.

therefore, going back and forth with you is not as much fun as with the dingbats, so i'll take my own advise and leave the office early and go have that drink!!! maybe someday, we'll be able to tip one and have a few laughs somewhere other than a message board... i'm done for the day. it's heiniken time......

Haha...I saw your name next to the post list and was coming to say I was done with the convo. It played itself out. I agree, it's nice to have an actual argument on a relevant topic on the Jets forum right now. As far as getting under someone's skin, it's all just for fun. Good to know you didn't take it personally. Enjoy that drink.

This reminds me a lot of the Lamont Jordan situation. Lamont was great in spot duty and he wanted huge feature back money but it was unproven whether he could take the every day load. Leon is the same albeit he does more than Lamont. Unless his demands are reasonable, I don't think I would commit big money to him until the end and I would give him A LOT of carries this year to see if he can maintain his numbers with the rigors of a full load. Also, doesn't he become a restricted FA anyhow? If not we could always franchise him.

Yeah I think they should pay this guy some solid cash. He's definitely a play maker, in a lot of situations. That's quite hard to find. If you let him go, you lose a back that can run, catch and you have to replace him on ST.

    Just pay him.

Not to mention he'll go to New England or Miami in about 5 seconds flat and torture us for the next ten years.

    Pay. The. Man.

I really hope things work out with him and the Jets. Leon Washington is a guy that makes things happen everytime he touches the rock. He clearly has outplayed his contract. Leon is twice as good a player as Darren Sproles and has been more consistent. I hope we can keep Leon around longer

Leon Washington is the only game breaking threat on Offense that we have. And he's one of the best game breakers in the league. The guy changes games. I can think of numerous big plays he has made in his short career. The Jets need to pay him.

Just the fact that even a handful of "jet fans" don't want to keep Leon is highly disturbing.

He may be our best player on our team and many of us believe he can be an every down back. He is a one of a kind amazing player. I'd be very very unhappy if we let him walk.

Give him the big bucks. He has earned it.

Exactly! Cut him his big ass check and sit back and smile for the next 10 years. That's the only thing you need to do.

Just a thought on these fourth round picks of ours:

We've now seen Kerry Rhodes and Jerricho Cotchery receive extensions, and now we're watching Leon Washington's negotiations.

All three of our big-time fourth round steals, all of whom had OBLITERATED their rookie contract during their initial tenure, have all been fairly respectful, patient and optimistic during contract negotiations. That's rare; fairly precious, as well.

Oh and... pay Leon whatever the fuck he wants. We stole Curtis Martin, they'd love to steal Leon. Thinking about what Leon Washington would add to Tom Brady and Bill Belichick's offense is making me sick.

No reason not to pay Washington. It doesn't look like Thomas Jones is gonna be around for more than 2 years or so, and that allows Washington to line up in tons of different sets in all sorts of situations. He's a true game breaking threat, the only one on this offense. Even if he never flourishes as a #1 back he'll be worth the money.

I say give LW his money he deserves it. He has been on of the most productive players on the team. Let alone he went to the pro bowl this year. He will only get better with the right play calling and people next to him. Just like the Chargers will regret losing Sproiles of they don't sign him after this year. Leon is a big part of our offense and special teams.

He's the best football player on the team.

    Period.

His under utilization is not his fault.
