This guy is horrible. And it pisses me off when he acts like hot shit and like he does something good when he celebrates after a play where he either costs us a penalty, or gets ran into. He sucks.
On the contrary, Walls plays with great technique what he lacks is a pair of hands and leaping ability.
This thread has blown my mind. Have you guys seriously just noticed all of these things when it comes to Wilson, like not getting his head turned around. When we had Revis and Cromartie, all teams would do was just target Wilson over and over and over and over and there were times where he would get 4 or 5 penalties in one game. The guy has been the biggest liability on the defense in the entire Rex Ryan era. I see the "good slot corner" argument alot, but the only reason that he is a slot corner is because he just couldn't cut it as an outside corner, but since he was a 1st round pick they had to do something with him. If we has a 3rd rounder Wilson would have been cut 2 years ago. I would honestly rather see a young guy like Reeves get a shot at playing corner and do horribly then see Wilson out there still sucking after all of these years.
No he's always had these problems, but when playing in the slot he would face worse receivers and be able to keep people in front of him which helped a lot. Yes he played here because he couldn't do it on the outside, but at least he was average or maybe even above here. Now those same problems he has always had are making him terrible against almost all receivers and he's having trouble keeping people in front of him. He always had trouble when people got behind him but now he's having trouble no matter what the WR does.
His shelf life should come to an end. He is certainly regressing in almost every aspect of his game. Time to cut him.
Wilson and Dixon should be cut and two FA's should be signed and given ample PT in the the 4th preseason. Sink or swim it can't be worse than what I saw from these guys on Friday against 2nd and 3rd stringers, imagine what's going to happen against Rodgers and Brady... Our depth with Patterson, Lankaster, Walls and Allen* should be enough to serve in most games, but when we play one of these elite QB's that have made their career off of exploiting weaknesses its going to be a reality check.
Another early round bust from Terry Badway. If Wilson were any good, we would be a scary defense now.
Richardson wasn't bad though, and I think Dee will actually be a good CB. We have to balance our criticism of Bradway, he could probably have done better if MT did not trade away picks during his tenure.
I think in the past..Wilson has played better & his criticism from this fan base is alittle unjustified. Then again..I think this fan base has a habit of expecting WAY too much from our DBs b/c we've been spoiled by the way Revis/Cromartie performed 3-4 years ago. It seems like every time the Jets give up a reception for more than 5 yards people absolutely panic & call for the given player,Rex & Idzik's head. While the DB's job is to prevent receptions..It's gonna happen in today's NFL. The Receivers are too good as are the elite QBs;PLUS the rules vastly favor the offensive passing game. Simply put every secondary is GOING to give up receptions.Giants supposively are loaded in the secondary..did that stop a seemingly middle of the pack Jets passing game from pretty much moving the ball at will?People need to settle down a bit w/ their expectations. W/ that said..Wilson has really regressed thus far this preseason. His feet look really eratic, he can't locate the ball & his form tackling is god awful. He shouldn't be a scapegoat for the trauma this unit has endured..but that doesn't mean he doesn't deserve criticism. He's been straight up BAD.
There is a tweet going around on Wilson's preseason stats. Targeted 10 times, for 9 completions and 150+ yards.
It's pretty obvious what would happen. -Wilson would give Hill a 10-15 yard cushion. -Hill would blow by Wilson at approximately 10-15 yards. -Wilson will turn and chase. -The ball would bounce off backwards of Hill's hands. -Wilson would then be in position to get a tip drill INT but would have the ball bounce off his helmet because you guessed it, he does not TURN HIS HEAD AROUND!!! -Wilson celebrates waving arms doing the incomplete sign then pounds his chest. -Lastly he TURNS HIS HEAD AROUND only to see a flag was thrown back at the point Hill blew by him for illegal contact.
Is that actually true?if it is that's sad.Somewhere in the Patriots bat cave Revis is smiling after reading that
KristianRDyerKristian Dyer Rex said cornerbacks on Thursday are likely Ellis Lankster, LeQuan Lewis and others. Said Kyle Wilson and Darrin Walls won't play. #nyjets 42 minutes ago I don't get it. Feels like Lankster is on the bubble despite playing well in my opinion. Ugh
"Thats not bad. It's not like he's giving up the perfect passer rating of 158.3" <-- Wilson defenders I counter: Kyle Wilson being the #1 Slot Corner is a Myth. This play is a microcosm of Wilson's "career"
